I went to a clam grill restaurant in Byeollae with my partner over the weekend. You don't have to travel all the way to Gangwon-do or Jebu Island for a clam grill, and honestly, we ate better than we would have at the beach. I ordered the clam grill instead of the hot pot by mistake. How did it turn out?
Honestly, I meant to order the steamed clam hot pot and the clam grill came out by mistake. But the moment I saw the three-tier clam grill tray, I thought, glad I ordered this~ haha A staff member puts the various clams and king scallops on the grill for you^^
The assorted clam grill (small) comes with 3 king scallops, scallops, short-neck clams and more, plus abalone and shrimp, all sizzling away with cheese.
As the clams cook, their shells pop open and they look so good. You know how hard it is to wait while it grills, right? I was dying for them to be done~ haha
Clams dipped in cheese and sweet chili sauce
I dunked the cooked clams deep in the cheese (said to be 100% natural), then deep in the cho-gochujang (sweet chili vinegar sauce), and ate them however I liked~
The cheesy scallops are done. That chewy texture is so good.
My partner kept shelling and cutting things for me, really playing the big oppa (the caring older boyfriend) today^^ The clams, shrimp and abalone were fresh, sweet and delicious. Since the clams are brought in every dawn, they taste like a clam grill eaten right at the source~
Is the assorted clam grill (small) enough for two?
The assorted clam grill (small) at Wonhadeon Bada Byeollae Main Branch filled us both up on clams alone. I wanted to try the kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) too, but after the tteokbokki in broth, the mussel soup and beer, I sadly gave up on the noodles...
