What is Rolling J, the Cheongdam hair salon?

Rolling J is a hair salon and makeup shop in Cheongdam, famous as a makeup shop for mothers of the bride and groom, and it's open daily 09:30-18:00. This time I requested designer Baek Hee, who is also raved about for bridal hair updos.

The biggest worry while preparing for my wedding was my hair. I've finished my photo shoot and I'm waiting for the retouched photos (bojeong) while getting ready to make invitations. There's usually about six months between the shoot and the actual ceremony, so I kept going back and forth: cut it, perm it, or just leave it? (T_T) On top of that, my hair got so frizzy in summer that even my Dyson couldn't fix it, so I went to a salon. I can't just hand my hair to anyone, so I went to Rolling J, which is well known in the wedding industry.

Rolling J location near Gangnam-gu Office Station and parking

Rolling J is a 3-minute walk from Gangnamgu-cheong Station Exit 4, and valet parking is available. It's easy to reach on foot too. It's famous as a makeup shop for mothers of the couple, and my wedding planner recommended it as well.

Bear slightly left from Exit 4 and you'll see a brick-style building. Rolling J is on its 1st and 2nd floors.

Such a stylish exterior ✨ I should consider it as a makeup shop when I pick my wedding dress. Apparently it's also known for dress-try-on makeup and flight attendant interview makeup! I'm so excited.

I booked Rolling J through Naver Reservation and requested Baek Hee. Conclusion first: 100000% satisfied (she also does bridal hair updos, so if you're looking for one, I recommend her 💗).

The entrance was full of displayed products. If you like how your hair turns out, buying the products there is probably a good idea haha.

You can find reviews on sites like Maekmawe and Direct, and since makeup is done in a one-person room, it looks comfortable. Why a private makeup room matters = you have to show up completely bare-faced..

What is Rolling J's 2nd-floor hair area like?

The hair area at Rolling J is on the 2nd floor, up the stairs. The space is used really well. I highly recommend this Cheongdam hair salon.

Super clean and stylish, right? I was there for about 4 hours and never felt uncomfortable or bored.

Length consultation for a bride-to-be's wedding bun

I planned to get a layered C-curl perm at Rolling J, and when I told Baek Hee that my wedding was coming up, she shaped my hair into a bun and talked through length with me. The salon itself is spotless and the staff were so kind! If you're a bride-to-be with hair worries, I recommend Baek Hee (turns out she was a bride-to-be herself too.. 💞)

I sat down and we started an in-depth hair consultation. The length can change depending on whether you want a high, middle or low bun, so she looked at everything carefully.

Before the perm: heavy frizz and unruly hair

My embarrassing before shot (T_T) My hair clings to my face and the frizz is so bad it defies gravity..?! Right after a shampoo, we did the cut.

How the layered C-curl perm is done

The shampoo area at Rolling J was comfortable and the scalp massage felt great. Right after the cut, she rolled my hair. She straightened the very curly parts one by one, and rolled the curls tightly where I needed volume.

At Rolling J I could choose coffee, tea or juice, and they also set out jelly sweets. Snacking while getting treated made the time fly?!

My phone battery was low, and when I mentioned it they even brought a long charging cable >_< Bridal hair expert Baek Hee is so kind, I'm booking her again,,

After: how did the layered C-curl perm turn out?

My finished hair after 4 hours at Rolling J! Can you see the full, bouncy volume? She cut off quite a lot, but strangely it doesn't feel like my length got shorter. She thinned it out and added layers while keeping the length (gijang). Such good judgment.

I loved my hair so much that I was snapping a photo every step on the street, hahaha. Anyway, it looks even better up close.

A cool summer look, and it turned out great, right? When I went to work everyone asked where I got it done and kept complimenting it.. If you're looking for a makeup shop for the mothers of the couple, try Rolling J, and for hair I recommend Baek Hee!
