Ihwasu Traditional Yukgaejang Asan Namdong is a yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) restaurant on Oncheon-daero in Asan, Chungnam, that has stayed in the same spot for 10 years. On a weekend drive toward Onyangoncheon and Sinjeongho Lake, our family stopped at Ihwasu Traditional Yukgaejang for Set A for one (traditional yukgaejang plus a large meat dumpling) and yukgaejang kalguksu (knife-cut noodles in yukgaejang broth), and both had a deep beef-bone broth and plenty of beef. With parking and baby chairs, Ihwasu Traditional Yukgaejang Asan Namdong is an easy family meal stop on an Asan trip.

On a weekend shopping trip, the writer had the Downtown Set (₩14,800) and the Avocado Set (₩17,600), and found that the fresh avocado, the smash patty and the spicy pickled onions from the self-bar went well together. Verdict: Downtown Burger Cheonan-Asan is a good spot for a tidy, filling meal while shopping or passing through the terminal.

Cheonan fountain garden café for a weekend morning: Steel Green Bakery

Steel Green Bakery is a bakery café in Seonggeo-eup, Cheonan, with a large parking lot, plants filling the space inside and out, and a fountain.
