Why a Eonyang Dak Kalguksu regular came to the Tongdosa branch
Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Tongdosa Branch is a chicken kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) and dak-gomtang (chicken soup) restaurant on Tongdosa-ro in Hasbuk-myeon, Yangsan, Gyeongnam. I had business near Tongdosa this time, so I came for lunch. I really love Eonyang Dak Kalguksu, so much that I've been to the Donghae, Haeundae, Centum and Suyeong branches, and I go without hesitation whenever one is nearby. Since it's a place I already like, I was curious how the Tongdosa branch would taste, haha.

Parking and atmosphere at the Tongdosa branch
The private parking lot is huge, which I loved! If you come by car, you really don't need to worry much about parking. It was also a nice spot for a meal after stopping by Tongdosa.

The inside is fairly large too, so there was plenty of room. With so many tables, it's good for a family meal, and it looked like it could easily hold tour groups. It seemed convenient for people who come to see Tongdosa or walk around the area.

How much chicken goes into the dak-gomtang?
At Eonyang Dak Kalguksu, both the chicken kalguksu and the dak-gomtang come with about half a chicken, so it's a filling meal. That day I wanted something hearty with rice rather than noodles, so I ordered the dak-gomtang~ It also includes drumstick meat, so I think it suits anyone who likes a tender texture.

The dak-gomtang broth is already seasoned, so it was good without adding much salt. When the bowl arrived, the big pieces of chicken stood out! The rice also comes in the bowl, so I could enjoy it as a hearty rice soup.

The warm broth was really good for filling up and settling the stomach.

It's especially delicious when you put chicken and kimchi on top of the rice. Even without other side dishes, one kimchi is enough to finish the bowl in no time, haha.

Why the Tongdosa branch had the softest chicken of all the branches
What really surprised me at the Tongdosa branch was how tender the chicken was. I've been to several branches, and the chicken here was the softest I've had at any Eonyang Dak Kalguksu! Seriously, it was so soft that I hardly felt anything catch in my mouth. I couldn't believe chicken could be this tender. 😊

What's the kimchi like at Eonyang Dak Kalguksu?
The kimchi is said to be made fresh every day, with domestic cabbage. Spicy and less spicy kimchi are prepared separately, so you can pick what suits you. I like Eonyang Dak Kalguksu's kimchi because it's spicy and tasty. Sometimes I even want to visit just for this kimchi!

Kimchi with hot dak-gomtang adds a spicy kick and goes well together. Pickled radish (danmuji) is there too, so add it however you like~
Are the chewy dumplings worth ordering too?
The dumplings here are chewy and tasty too, so if you have a big appetite I recommend ordering them as well. Dak-gomtang or chicken kalguksu alone is filling, but adding dumplings makes it even more generous.

Takeout cost and other things to know
For takeout at the Tongdosa branch, a ₩500 container fee is added, so keep that in mind if you plan to take food away! Looking around the restaurant, I also saw that it takes part in the Green Umbrella (Chorok Usan) sharing store program. I learned that while enjoying a good meal, and it stuck with me.
Lots of people visit Tongdosa to walk or look around, right? Having warm dak-gomtang or chicken kalguksu before sightseeing or after your walk seems like a great way to refuel. The large parking lot also made it convenient to come by car.
