Hoegi izakaya in Seoul: motsunabe hot pot, okonomiyaki — Hamaru Hoegi
Hamaru Hoegi is an izakaya on Gyeonghuidae-ro 1-gil, right by Hoegi Station and Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun, Seoul, with indoor counter seats and outdoor tables. Three of us went on a Friday evening and ordered motsunabe (offal hot pot) for 28,000 won, handmade seafood okonomiyaki for 17,000 won, and chicken thigh-and-scallion, chicken skin and tsukune skewers — the motsunabe packed with beef intestine and beansprouts, the okonomiyaki served in the shape of the cartoon character Crayon Shin-chan, the tsukune juicy throughout. Hamaru Hoegi is a first-round food izakaya, not a late-night second stop.
