Today I want to recommend a spot for a Balsan Station date or a Magok meal — Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch, where the hanjeongsik (Korean set-table meal) is fantastic. It's clean and generous, and it has a room, so it's also perfect for group gatherings. Let me get right into it!
How to get to Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch, and where to park
Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch is a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Balsan Station. There's a 4-story parking building right next to the restaurant with room for 77 cars, so parking was easy haha. You get 3 hours free!

Private room, baby chairs and the dining room at Mikodam
The inside of Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch has wood interiors with touches of greenery here and there! It felt upscale, which I loved, and the space itself was spacious and comfortable! There's also a room inside, perfect for group gatherings!
They also have baby chairs, so it seems like a great place to bring kids too haha.
What's in the self-serve dessert corner by the entrance
Right by the entrance there's a self-serve dessert corner! For dessert, there's puffed corn, plum tea, sikhye (sweet rice drink), and even coffee.
There's a review event going on! The menu has set options, full-course options, and side dishes. There are several types of seaweed soup, and cockles come either in savory soy sauce or vinegared style. There's also beef jeon, Jeju soy crab, and even LA galbi (marinated short ribs) haha! Banchan refills are available if you select them on the kiosk!
What comes with the ₩46,000 Full Table set for two
We ordered the Full Table set for two (₩46,000).
Wow~! The table came out absolutely packed! The number of side dishes was insane haha.
First, the side dishes: japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), yuzu salad, stir-fried pork, and three kinds of namul (seasoned vegetables)! There's also garlic scapes, fresh kimchi, vinegared cucumber, and gim (seaweed)!
Flounder seaweed soup
I chose the flounder seaweed soup! A whole flounder went into it, so it was really generous haha! If you're worried it might smell fishy since there's fish in it — don't be!!! The broth was rich and savory and so delicious! There might have been clams in there too because it tasted so refreshing :)
Beef jeon (pan-fried beef) and chive kimchi
Beef jeon (pan-fried beef pancake) also came out. Wrapped with the crunchy chive kimchi that came alongside, the jeon was tender and savory, and the spicy-sweet chive kimchi was so delicious! It's been a while since I inhaled beef jeon like that haha.
Grilled mackerel
The mackerel had all the oil rendered out so it was crispy outside and moist inside — you could eat this alone with a bowl of rice! It was also big, so we ate really full.
Vinegared cockle salad and stir-fried pork
I chose the vinegared cockle salad~ Mixed with the sweet-and-sour sauce into hot rice, you don't even need the other side dishes! Ha, honestly every single side dish was main-dish quality — I was too busy eating to stop!
And the stir-fried pork, cooked spicy-sweet! The sauce had great umami, so this was also a total rice-thief. Work through it dish by dish and a bowl of rice disappears in no time~~
And of course we couldn't skip dessert! Plum tea, sikhye, and puffed rice snacks rounded things off, and we left completely, satisfyingly full :)
Is Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch worth it?
Mikodam Magok-Balsan Branch is comfortable and has a room, so it's perfect for group gatherings! With baby chairs available, it's also great for families with kids! There were so many side dishes, and each one was made with care — nothing felt like a throwaway!!
Beef jeon, cockle salad, stir-fried pork, and grilled mackerel — it was genuinely great value for the price. If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant near Balsan Station or in Magok, I highly recommend it! I'm planning to come back again!! :)
