Yangyang café with electric boats: Cafe Dunchi

Where is Cafe Dunchi in Yangyang?

When I came to Yangyang, I usually went to see the sea, but this time I visited Cafe Dunchi (카페 둔치), a floating café on the Namdaecheon River, with a friend. The address is 295 Ilchul-ro, Yangyang-eup. We had drinks at the café, then rode an electric boat and spent time on the river.

How do you park and enter the café?

There was a reed field right beside the parking lot. Taking the road behind the parking lot, I found that it was also possible to park directly in front of the café.

Seeing the café on the water made me look forward to it even before I entered. It felt different to face a river rather than the sea in Yangyang.

The café was on the second floor, so I went up on the right.

However, there was no restroom inside the café. I had to walk out to the parking lot, which was disappointing. Stopping by the restroom before going upstairs after parking would reduce the extra walking.

What are the café and electric boat hours?

At the time of my visit, the posted café hours were 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Boat hours were different, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Since the café stayed open into the evening, I thought it could be nice to come at sunset, although I did not see the sunset on this visit.

What were the café atmosphere and drinks like?

The interior was neatly decorated in wood tones. It had an overall warm feeling, and I felt it would be nice to take a long break there.

The menu was varied. I wanted to order dessert too, but since I had eaten not long before, I chose only drinks.

I ordered a strawberry latte, and my friend ordered an iced Americano.

We sipped our drinks and enjoyed the café atmosphere. If I lived nearby, I thought I would like to stop by while out for a drive.

Is the electric boat enjoyable for first-time drivers?

After having our drinks, we went back down to the first floor to ride the electric boat.

We put on life jackets and chose a boat. There were two types, small and large, and we chose the large boat.

The owner briefly explained how to operate the electric boat. After listening to the explanation, we set off with me driving it myself.

I was a little scared when I first started driving. Still, it became fun once I got used to it. I thought children would enjoy it too if they came with their families.

More people were riding electric boats than I expected.

Bluetooth was also available on the large boat we rode. Listening to music and drinking our beverages while moving across the river felt different. The 30 minutes passed quickly, which was a shame.

How did we spend time after the boat ride?

After getting off the boat, we went back up to the café and spent more time together. I liked the café atmosphere, and it was also nice for taking photos.

This visit let me enjoy the river on a Yangyang trip that had mostly focused on the sea. When I went, it felt like good weather for riding a boat, and the reed field beside it also made me curious about the autumn scenery.
