Hongdae café for Einspänner and tart: Naemyeonui Balgyeon
In short
Naemyeonui Balgyeon is a three-floor dessert café in Seogyo-dong, Mapo, Seoul. I tried the Acacia Hills tart and an Einspänner, and everything from the plating to the coffee cream was unforgettable. Verdict: a café I want to revisit alone or for a Hongdae date.

There are great places that make me smile as I write about them after a visit. Hongdae’s Naemyeonui Balgyeon (내면의 발견) is one of those places! From the quiet, beautiful three-floor interior in every little corner to the coffee and desserts that made me gasp—this is somewhere you absolutely have to visit 🥰
Naemyeonui Balgyeon in Hongdae: location, parking and hours
Naemyeonui Balgyeon, a Hongdae café, is in Seogyo-dong. It sits roughly between Hapjeong, Mangwon, and Hongik University Station, and is a 12-minute walk from Hongik University Station. It is open until 7 PM every day, except on weekends when it stays open until 8 PM. Best of all, up to four cars can park free right in front of the café! A Hongdae café with free parking 👍
A tranquil, garden-like space across three floors

I visited on a weekday afternoon. It’s a large, three-floor café.

The free parking right out front is the best, too. The moment I walked in!?? Wow, this is crazy…💕

A beautiful indoor garden welcomes you from the first floor.

This is the entrance area. Let me show you the first-floor seating, too.

The first floor has quiet indoor seating and outdoor terrace seating. Let’s head up to the second floor.
This is an overall look at the second floor, and it actually has three separate areas.

On the left are single seats for a solo café visit,

then the middle seats,

and on the right are group seats, plus outdoor terrace seats with a camping feel. There was even a tiny sofa room tucked away in the middle. Every single corner was so beautiful and serene.

This is the way up to the third-floor rooftop. There is outdoor rooftop seating, too. Now that it’s fall, it would be lovely to go enjoy the terrace seats 💙
All three floors were decorated with a tranquil garden theme. Quiet music and snippets of movie dialogue played softly—it was truly such a beautiful café for discovering something within yourself. I’d never had this feeling before; it was such a moving space, as though it had been made with the hope that you might find something in your own heart here…. 💚 Saved straight to my favorites…!

Naemyeonui Balgyeon menu

- Signature menu: Forest Cloud ₩7,500; Lavender Grasse ₩8,500; Americano ₩5,000
- Recommended menu: Oriental Melon Arcadia bingsu (shaved ice dessert) ₩14,000; Acacia Hills ₩7,800; Einspänner ₩6,500
Naemyeonui Balgyeon’s signature drink is Forest Cloud, topped with matcha cream over coconut water. I love that there are so many unusual menu items you can try only here. There are coffee and non-coffee drinks, plus a wide range of desserts. From oriental melon bingsu onward, the dessert menu is full of delicious, distinctive choices you won’t see anywhere else.

They also sell mugs and drip coffee.
Acacia Hills tart and Einspänner

- Einspänner ₩6,500
- Acacia Hills tart ₩7,800

If this plating isn’t art, then what is it? 🥹 I ordered the Acacia Hills dessert and an Einspänner. What is this prettiness…ㅠ What is this flavorrr~ Ah, I’m honestly so touched. The tart was topped with cool, crisp, crunchy ingredients and an ice-cream-like cream.

It was a dessert to enjoy nice and chilled. The tart itself was sweet and so delicious, and the middle layer had a subtle acacia fragrance. Scoop up a big bite with that sweet cream and it’s heaven…! It was a unique, delicious dessert unlike anything I’d had elsewhere. Please, please, please try the desserts at Naemyeonui Balgyeon. They really know desserts here. It felt like something made by a Michelin chef. This place goes far beyond being a simple café.
My number-one Einspänner this year
The coffee flavor? Ah…. This is my number-one Einspänner of the year. The coffee itself had an absolutely killer aroma 🥹 and the cream on top was overwhelming.

The cream was so thick and firm that it did not even wobble. Ah…. It had such a deep flavor, like Häagen-Dazs ice cream. I almost wondered, am I eating premium vanilla ice cream right now? haha. Drinking that cream with deeply aromatic coffee that still had all its flavor felt so moving, like every hardship was melting away 👍 The Einspänner gets my strongest, strongest, strongest recommendation.
A Hongdae café that is lovely solo or for a date
- A moving, beautiful three-floor café in Hongdae, gorgeous in every corner
- A Hongdae café with parking
- Coffee and desserts that feel as though they were made by a Michelin chef
Honestly, Naemyeonui Balgyeon is a café I want to keep all to myself, haha. Even the desserts stand apart from the aroma onward. The Einspänner was my number-one café coffee of the year. (No question.) I’m genuinely excited even for the basic Americano here. It would be wonderful to come quietly on your own, and it would also be perfect with friends or for a Hongdae date. As a food blogger, I try to introduce new great restaurants and cafés every time, so I usually visit a different place each time—but Naemyeonui Balgyeon feels like somewhere I’ll go alone very often. It was a café that filled my heart with warmth 🩵
