Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch (깐깐한족발 본점) is the regulars' place my partner and I go to whenever we crave jokbal in Cheomdan, Wolgye-dong, Gwangju 🤍 It's so famous around Cheomdan that a lot of you probably know it already, but there's a reason its Naver rating is over 4.7!

Every time I go I'm satisfied, so if anyone asks me to recommend a Wolgye-dong restaurant, it's the first place that comes to mind, no hesitation!

Where is Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch, and what about hours and parking?

Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch is at 46 Cheomdanjungang-ro 116beon-gil, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, and it's open daily from 16:00 to 23:30 (last order 23:20). By public transport, get off at Cheomdan 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center and walk 3 minutes.

Driving around Wolgye-dong is always stressful because of parking, but Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch has a private parking lot behind the building, which is really convenient 👍🏻

A big hall, rooms, and a big screen that's great for baseball

Inside Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch you'll find an open kitchen and a clean, sooo spacious hall, and there are nice rooms at the back too, so it would be perfect for a family meal or a group gathering in Cheomdan!

There's also a huge screen inside, which I love!! We grabbed a seat with a perfect view for watching baseball!

What did we order? Half-and-half jokbal for ₩48,000 and makguksu

This time we ordered the half-and-half jokbal (₩48,000) and added a makguksu (medium, ₩8,000). Kkankkanhan Jokbal has lots of menu choices, which I like, and since we wanted to try two flavors, we went half-and-half.

With the half-and-half you can pick two types to suit your taste. We chose the classic charcoal-grilled jokbal plus the fire-grilled spicy jokbal, and added makguksu (buckwheat noodles), which you just can't skip when eating jokbal~~

A tip you shouldn't miss: the review event

What comes in the free side spread?

As soon as you finish ordering at Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch, the basic table setting arrives, and it amazes me every time!!

Fresh wrap vegetables, a tangy salad, spicy and refreshing bean sprout soup, and radish kimchi are the basics. On top of that, fluffy steamed egg and savory doenjang (soybean paste) stew all come free!!

While you nibble on the side dishes before the jokbal arrives, the main dish is ready and out in no time~~

How were the charcoal-grilled and fire-grilled spicy jokbal?

The half-and-half jokbal at Kkankkanhan came out glistening. Look at the half-and-half jokbal, finally here! Just looking at it earns a thumbs up!!

They light a candle underneath so you can eat it warm down to the last piece, such a thoughtful touch! It feels like it tastes even better, haha

The portion is huge, and the meat is tender and chewy with no gamey smell at all~~~

The charcoal-grilled jokbal is infused with that distinctive charcoal aroma, so even without any dipping sauce, the jokbal on its own is really delicious!

It was my first time trying the fire-grilled spicy jokbal at Kkankkanhan, and the seasoning was so good! I highly recommend it, haha

You really have to try the charcoal-grilled one at this Wolgye-dong favorite..!! The glossy jokbal is just so delicious

Makguksu topped with a slice of jokbal

The makguksu at Kkankkanhan Jokbal is generously loaded with vegetables, so I mixed it all up thoroughly

then gently laid a slice of jokbal on top and wrapped it up. That completes a truly 'matdori' (insanely delicious) combo 🤍🤍

The flying fish roe rice ball from the review event

Look at the review event freebie at this Wolgye-dong favorite, Kkankkanhan Jokbal...!!!!!! This is the reason I say you should definitely join! The portion is big, and it's so tasty it goes perfectly with the jokbal

Wrap jokbal and radish kimchi in a fresh lettuce leaf, take one big bite, then follow it with hot steamed egg, and it's pure happiness~~

Even this tasty, generous steamed egg comes free, and honestly the Kkankkanhan service is just so good!!

Can you take leftover jokbal to go?

Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch happily packs up leftover jokbal too. The portions are so generous that every time we come, we stuff ourselves and still leave a little behind.

And the jokbal we take home makes a really special jokbal fried rice~~
