East Jeju restaurant, one party per slot with a baby: Pyeongdae Alhi
In short
Pyeongdae Alhi is a one-chef restaurant in Pyeongdae-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju, near Pyeongdae Elementary School, serving Jeju tiger shrimp (ddaksaeu) and black pork in a range of dishes. Staying in Woljeong-ri, the writer booked a lunch slot at Pyeongdae Alhi with her sister and had the private space to themselves, as only one party is seated per slot, ordering the sous-vide set (black pork tenderloin steak, tiger shrimp Hallasan pasta, Alhi salad and an ade). Pyeongdae Alhi suits East Jeju travelers who want an undisturbed meal with a baby or family.

Our accommodation on this Jeju trip was in Woljeong-ri, so I looked up restaurants near Gujwa-eup and found Pyeongdae Alhi, a one-chef restaurant with a great reputation among locals. So off we went.

Where is Pyeongdae Alhi, and how is parking? Near Snoopy Garden and Bijarim
Pyeongdae Alhi is in Pyeongdae-ri, Gujwa-eup, near Pyeongdae Elementary School, and there's a large parking lot right in front of the building. It's close to Bijarim Forest and tourist spots like Snoopy Garden, so it's very easy to get to.

The chef runs it alone, with brunch, lunch and dinner time slots, and we booked the lunch slot. The parking lot is so big that parking was super easy.
The moment we walked in, I went "Wow~" and could tell right away what the owner's taste is like. I love that lush green Jeju vibe, and everything I like is gathered right here.

What's on the menu at Pyeongdae Alhi?
Pyeongdae Alhi is an East Jeju restaurant where you can enjoy Jeju tiger shrimp and black pork in all kinds of dishes. I browsed the menu while waiting, but we had reserved the sous-vide set in advance, so I was already looking forward to it.

The sous-vide set includes an ade, so we ordered one green tangerine and one hallabong. There are also rice bowls, pastas and Alhi sets, so you can pick whatever suits you.
Why it's good with a baby: a private space for one party per time slot

When your reservation time comes, they tell you to open the "secret door" on the left side of the shop and go in. It opens with just a light push, and the private space set apart inside got my hopes up.
Where do this taste and sense come from, to decorate a space like this?! It feels less like a Gujwa-eup restaurant and more like somewhere in medieval Europe. Famous as a Snoopy Garden-area restaurant, it takes just one party per time slot, so you can enjoy it comfortably with family or as a date spot.
Watching the sunlight come through the big picture windows and the breeze drifting in, I thought, "Yep, this is definitely Jeju."

Only our group could use this whole space, which makes it perfect to come with a baby in East Jeju. Looking around with my sister, we said how privately you could enjoy it if you came with the nieces and nephews.

The tables were neatly set with tableware, and we sat wherever we liked. The kitchen is open and connected to the room, which makes Pyeongdae Alhi even easier to trust.
How was the sous-vide set at Pyeongdae Alhi?

Starter bread and balsamic
The starter bread came out right on our reservation time, and I dug into the golden-brown bread first. I mean, it's just bread with balsamic vinegar, but it felt like eating a proper dish. Chef, what is going on?

The Pyeongdae Alhi sous-vide set we ordered lets you enjoy everything: sous-vide black pork tenderloin steak, Hallasan pasta, Alhi salad, and an ade.

Alhi salad
I tried the Alhi salad first, and even the shrimp on top is seasoned rather than just plopped on. It tasted a bit peanut-based, and the seasoning was just right. How can even the salad be this good?

My sister is a black pork lover, so she was really looking forward to the black pork tenderloin steak. It's cooked slowly at low temperature for a long time, giving a deeper, richer flavor.

Tiger shrimp Hallasan pasta
But the tiger shrimp was waiting, so I'm starting with the Hallasan pasta. It's a spicy oil pasta that wakes up your appetite and is just really easy to enjoy.

Above all, the combo of flying fish roe and tiger shrimp feels like eating a proper dish, not just pasta. Honestly, it's the most satisfying Gujwa-eup restaurant I've visited recently, T_T seriously.

Sous-vide black pork tenderloin steak
The sous-vide black pork steak comes with avocado and chimichurri sauce, which really brings out the flavor of the steak. Wow, and the side vegetables were so good I was genuinely surprised.

The tiger shrimp is also prepared so it's easy to eat, so on a short Jeju trip I got to eat my fill of tiger shrimp before heading home. It's delicious enough that I want to come back, and private enough, with the space all to yourself, that I'd want to come with a baby.

We finished the ade and even the drinking water, and it was the best restaurant, so much so that I hated getting up.
