Omil Hongdae is a fusion Western restaurant at 2F, 178-8 Yanghwa-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It is open Mon–Fri 11:30–21:15 and Sat–Sun 11:00–21:15, with last order at 20:30. There is no private car park, so you need to use a nearby public one.
Today! A date in Seoul, finally, after so long! We settled on Hongdae. While hunting for a lunch spot I found Omil Hongdae and went :) There's a queue because it's so popular, the food looks adorable and it tasted great too, so I totally get why it's famous as a Hongdae date restaurant ╰(*´︶ `*)╯♡

Omil Hongdae is about a 2-minute walk from Exit 4 of Hongik Univ. Station ‼️ Sadly, there's no private parking 🥹 If you're coming by car, you'll need to use a public car park nearby.
Omil Hongdae wait: 13 teams even at opening time
You register for the waitlist at the Catchtable machine at the entrance. As a hot Hongdae spot, there was a wait, and even though we went right at opening time there were •• 13 teams ahead of us! You get a KakaoTalk alert, so you can wander around the area while you wait.
Omil Hongdae atmosphere and the bell for calling staff
The restaurant was packed with people, haha. The mood is perfect for a blind date, a date date, or a good meal and a chat with friends (*˙˘˙)♡ There were lots of families too!!
When we wanted to call a staff member, we were told to ring the bell up above, haha. A bell instead of a buzzer is kind of cute, and it felt like Omil's own little charm, haha ꒰ ⸝⸝ɞ̴̶̷ ·̮ ɞ̴̶̷⸝⸝꒱

The set for two is ₩48,700 and includes 2 mains + Omil soba maki (soba noodles rolled up like gimbap) + 2 drinks, so it's a great way to try a bit of everything (ᵒ̤̑ ₀̑ ᵒ̤̑) The menu runs from the signature rubber duck omurice to salmon steak gnocchi, spicy cod roe pasta and sizzling iron plate cheese katsu ••. Sides include Omil soba maki and truffle fries, and there are ades and highballs too ‼️

Spicy cod roe pasta, spicy flat iron risotto and Omil soba maki all came out, so look at this ∩(´∀`∩) Aren't even the plates adorable? hahaha The plating is neat too, so I could see why it's famous as a date spot and a Hongdae-vibe spot! So Instagrammable, lol.
Spicy flat iron risotto, my top pick at Omil Hongdae
My top pick at Omil Hongdae was the spicy flat iron risotto ❤️ It comes with a generous helping of tender flat iron steak, and the spicy sauce plus cheese gives it a really great savory depth! (*˙˘˙)♡
The risotto is thick and rich, with a gentle spiciness rising through it, so it wasn't heavy at all!!! If you go to Omil Hongdae, I really recommend the spicy flat iron risotto!!
What does the spicy cod roe pasta taste like?
The spicy cod roe pasta has plenty of roe, so every bite hit with a salty, nutty flavor (ᵒ̤̑ ₀̑ ᵒ̤̑)
A little spice is added, so it wasn't heavy at all, and I kept going back for more! If you usually like cod roe pasta, you'll be happy with this one ٩꒰⍢ ꒱۶⁼³₌₃
Omil soba maki, my boyfriend's top pick
Omil soba maki was my boyfriend's favorite 💛 At first it sounded novel, soba rolled up like gimbap, but after one bite I understood why it's popular, haha.
It's pretty light overall, so I think even people on a diet could enjoy it without worry?? If you want to try something different, I definitely recommend the Omil soba maki too!
Zero cola as the set drink
Western food just needs cola, right! I picked zero cola as the set drink, and it came with a cup of ice too. Nice touch!
Would I go back to Omil Hongdae?
There's a reason Omil Hongdae is popular enough to have a queue, haha. The food looks so pretty, and every single plate is full of Instagram charm. I enjoyed the spicy flat iron risotto most, and my boyfriend loved the Omil soba maki! (*˙˘˙)♡ The roe pasta was good too!!
Next time I come to Hongdae, I'm 100% going back ٩(๑′∀ ‵๑)۶•*¨*•.¸¸♪
