Today Minmin and I were craving samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), so we headed to Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, a hot-plate pork belly spot right by Gangbyeon Station. Pork belly is great cooked in a frying pan too, but you know thick-cut meat grilled on a big cauldron lid is the best way, right?
On a cauldron lid heated to 270°C, we grilled minari or dried radish greens, aged kimchi, bean sprouts, pork belly and pork neck, then finished it all off properly with fried rice — Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal! The fresh wrap vegetables are unlimited refills and the staff grill the meat perfectly, so it was a relaxed meal — a great spot near Gangbyeon Station. The reasonable prices meant we could enjoy an even more generous spread.
If you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot near Gangbyeon or Gueui, give Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Gueui Branch a try.

Where is Sanggu's in Gueui, and where do you park?
Sitting between Gangbyeon Station and Gueui Station, Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is close to Exit 2 if coming from Gueui Station, and close to Exit 1 if coming from Gangbyeon Station.
If you're driving, there's mechanical parking behind the building — though they say SUV drivers should use the Gueui 3-dong public parking lot across the street instead.

The half-plate set and à la carte menu at Sanggu's
There's a generous half-plate set, a full-plate set, and à la carte options like fresh pork belly, fresh pork neck, chewy cut and pork jowl, so you can pick according to your taste. I went with the half-plate set.

Side dishes and free-refill wrap vegetables
Pickled radish, various sauces and pickled onions were set out as basic sides, and you could easily grab more from the self-serve bar if needed.

Fresh wrap vegetables like sweet pumpkin, perilla leaves, napa cabbage and mushrooms are unlimited refills, which makes it a good spot to bring a friend who's dieting too, haha.

They also have 300cc mini beers, which are nice for a light drink.

Half-plate set with minari and fresh pork belly
The half-plate set lets you choose between minari or siraegi (dried radish greens), and chilled or fresh pork belly. I went with minari and fresh pork belly.

With pork belly and pork neck on the cauldron lid, grilled together with bean sprouts, kimchi, bracken fern, mushrooms and green onion kimchi, the flavor was clearly on another level.

Staff grill the pork for you — good for team dinners
Having someone who's really skilled grill the meat for you makes a huge difference in taste. No worrying about burning or undercooking it — they cut it into perfectly bite-sized pieces, so all we had to do was eat. Since they grill it for you, I'd recommend this as a team dinner spot too!

The golden-brown grilled pork belly was savory and crisp on the outside, moist inside, with the juices really coming through. A place that grills the meat well really is the best.

The fragrant minari was grilled generously and plentifully, pairing perfectly with the rich pork belly. Grilled just until slightly wilted, it kept its aroma while still having a good texture.

Finishing with the fried rice included in the set
After enjoying the crunchy, tangy-spicy freshly grilled kimchi, bean sprouts and bracken fern, the fried rice was a must.

The half-plate set includes fried rice, so from meat to fried rice, we got to properly enjoy it all at a reasonable price. The savory meat oil combined with the tangy, umami kimchi flavor made for the perfect finish after pork belly.

Even with a fairly full stomach, as a Korean you've got to have some carbs, so I scraped the fried rice clean too. Starting with pork belly, then grilled kimchi, minari and green onion kimchi, and finishing with fried rice — this Gangbyeon-area pork belly spot really felt like a proper meal!
Recommended for Gangbyeon Station Korean BBQ, Gueui Korean BBQ, and cauldron-lid pork belly. Another delicious meal today.
