Hanam Misa restaurant: first-ever nurungjitang for a cold, O Hyeongje
In short
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch (오형제황제누룽지탕 하남미사본점) is a Chinese restaurant on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi, specializing in nurungjitang (scorched rice crust soup). The writer and her husband, who was fighting a seasonal cold, went for a restorative lunch and ordered one seafood nurungjitang (18,000 won) and one mung bean abalone nurungjitang (22,000 won). The seafood nurungjitang, her first-ever bowl, was far better than expected, and with roomy tables, parking and carefully made side dishes, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang is a Hanam Misa spot worth revisiting for two or for a family gathering.

With the seasons changing, my husband had a slight cold, so I took him to O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang's Misa branch for some restorative food. Honestly... it was delicious, of course, and the tables and chairs are wide and comfortable, so it's a great Hanam restaurant for a family gathering too :) I'm planning to go back, haha!
Where is O Hyeongje Misa, and what are the hours and parking?

The address is 616-1 Misa-daero, Hanam, and it's open from 11 a.m. to 9:20 p.m. So lunch or dinner, you can drop by whenever.

Parking is right in front of the restaurant, which is a basic must :) No parking worries at all.

Walking in, I saw the reservation list posted even though it was a weekday, and thought, wow, people really come here for group meals. You can feel the popularity, haha.
What are the interior and seats like, and how do you get a window seat?

I loved the spacious, tidy room at this Hanam Misa restaurant. We went right after opening, and the sunny window seats were already full while the inner tables were free. Clearly you have to be there at opening for the window seats, hehe.

Of course, wherever you sit the tables are wide and easy to use. Parties of 4 or more can book through Naver any day of the week, so if you're looking for a Hanam restaurant for a family gathering, I recommend reserving ahead!
How does kiosk ordering work, and what are the menu and prices?

There's a kiosk at every table, so ordering is easy. We picked these two!
- Seafood nurungjitang ₩18,000
- Mung bean abalone nurungjitang ₩22,000
Since it's a Chinese restaurant, there were lots of other dishes too, like tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), chili shrimp, yuringi (fried chicken in soy-vinegar sauce) and palbochae (stir-fried seafood and vegetables). With just my husband and me, ordering more was out of the question from the start... haha. But it would be great to come with family and try a variety.
What do the side dishes look like?

Even the basic side dishes at O Hyeongje Misa were impressive.

The green onion kimchi was cut into easy bite-size pieces, the water kimchi was crunchy and refreshing, and there were salads and seasoned vegetables. You can really feel the care. I think most places serving soups and gukbap (soup with rice) have meager sides, but this Hanam restaurant was different. (No wonder everyone from kids to grandparents loves it!)
Before long, the dish of the day arrived. A staff member pours it out right in front of you to make the nurungjitang, and I loved that little performance too, yay, hehe.

Is nurungjitang good for a first-timer? Seafood nurungjitang, ₩18,000
This is my pick, the seafood nurungjitang. Actually, this was my very first nurungjitang ever. I couldn't imagine the flavor, and rather than something with too many ingredients, I wanted to try the basic version, so I chose the seafood one.

It was so. much. better than I expected, T_T!! Mild yet nutty, with seafood that kept coming, plump and tasty, and it was the best eaten with the side dishes. The deep broth was great too, and you wouldn't believe how hard I worked that spoon :)
My husband has had nurungjitang a few times, and he said O Hyeongje is the best quality and tastiest of all the places he's tried, hehe.

What's different about the mung bean abalone nurungjitang, ₩22,000?
My husband's pick was the mung bean abalone nurungjitang. It's the basic seafood nurungjitang with abalone, sprouted ginseng and mung bean added, so you could call it a nutrition-packed dish.

Chewy, generous abalone, ginseng for health, and mung beans bringing texture: of course it was a delicious combination. It was a happy, filling lunch for both of us :)

What's at the self-bar?
There's a self-bar in the middle of the restaurant, and I really recommend using it!

Besides the side dishes they bring by default, there was fruit on display that's perfect as a post-meal dessert. Even one bowl each was a really big portion and kept us full, and finishing with fresh fruit was just right.
Wrap-up: a Hanam Misa spot for a restorative meal for two or a family gathering
We visited O Hyeongje Misa as a Hanam restaurant pick. My husband and I went for a healthy meal for two, but it's also a great Misa restaurant for family gatherings with adults and kids alike!! For reservations, check availability by day and time on Naver Maps.
