Yeouido tteokbokki bar: fried sundae in mild sauce, Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a tteokbokki and Korean snack bar (bunsik) on B2 of IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul, and a branch of Hyeonseonine, the Yongsan original known for spicy tteokbokki. Two spice-shy diners shared the Hyeonseonine Combo Set (₩25,000) with mild tteokbokki, and a teriyaki rice ball came in place of the sold-out gimbap. With crisp vegetable fritters and assorted sundae (Korean blood sausage) with moist liver, Hyeonseonine Premium is a satisfying, no-wait tteokbokki stop in Yeouido that you can reach without leaving the station.

Where is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch?
Come out of Yeouido Station Exit 3 and follow the way to IFC Mall, and you'll find Hyeonseonine (현선이네) Premium IFC Mall Branch next to the GS25. It's really easy to find! I was in Yeouido on an errand, got a tteokbokki craving, and when I searched, Hyeonseonine popped right up as the Yeouido tteokbokki place. So I went.

There are indoor tables and outdoor tables too, so seating is fairly roomy! The address is B2, 10 Gukjegeumyung-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Hours are 11 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and 12 PM to 9 PM on weekends~ (note that last order is 8:40 PM!)
Is there enough seating at Hyeonseonine IFC Mall?

Inside the IFC Mall branch there are about 10 tables, and about 10 more outdoors. Plenty of room~

If you want instant tteokbokki (cooked at the table), use the indoor tables~
Hyeonseonine menu and what comes in the Combo Set

The Hyeonseonine Combo Set is ₩25,000 and includes 1 serving of tteokbokki, 1 serving of sundae (Korean blood sausage), a drink, a fried set and gimbap (seaweed rice roll). You order at the kiosk inside, and the tteokbokki comes in mild, medium and spicy! There are à la carte items too, but I usually go for the set menu~!
But... the day I visited, the gimbap was already sold out.. so I got rice balls instead~!!! (Even better!!!)

Hyeonseonine tteokbokki: mild for anyone who can't handle spice
The Hyeonseonine original is in Yongsan! It's famous for spicy tteokbokki... (I've tried it in Yongsan too, and even the mildest level was a bit spicy... I'm kind of a spice wimp myself.. haha)

What to grab at the self-service corner
At the IFC Mall branch you pick up basic spoons, chopsticks and small plates at the self-service corner. Water, salt, soy sauce and pickled radish are there too, so I grabbed everything in one go! If you're eating at an outdoor table, take tissues too~ (indoors they're next to the seats~)
I brought soy sauce and salt from the corner, and a Pepsi Zero too haha
The Hyeonseonine Combo Set spread on the table

While you sit at your seat, they bring the Hyeonseonine Combo Set out like this, as a whole spread..

How spicy is Hyeonseonine's mild tteokbokki?
Hyeonseonine's mild tteokbokki is definitely less spicy than the medium, which I loved~!! It's simply rice cakes and fish cake, nice and clean. And the rice cakes are my absolute favorite!!!!! They're like long wheat rice cakes, so good..

The fried set: the vegetable fritter is the star
Hyeonseonine's fried set was warm but perfectly crisp. Even at a tteokbokki place I think the fried food matters most, and the fritters... are honestly perfect.

The set has a vegetable fritter, squid, gimmari (glass noodle roll), sweet potato and a dumpling. I normally like the sweet potato fritter best, but at Hyeonseonine the vegetable fritter is truly amazing. (Today the vegetable fritter was the beeest haha)

Everything was fried so well that there was nothing to skip, and I ate it all. (Personally, after the vegetable fritter, the sweet potato was really good haha)

A teriyaki rice ball instead of sold-out gimbap
The rice balls I got in place of the sold-out gimbap were teriyaki rice balls. The sweetness went so well with the tteokbokki. (I want to try the gimbap next time.) Because I heard Hyeonseonine's gimbap is great too..

Assorted sundae with moist liver
The assorted sundae at Hyeonseonine was a really big portion, and they mixed in offal too. I ate it cleanly, with no gamey taste.

The offal was chewy and mild with no gamey taste, and delicious. (The liver was moist, not dry. You know how really, truly important that is!!! I think moist liver is what makes a good place!!)

Each piece of sundae is a good size too, easy to pop in your mouth in one bite. Dipped in salt, it was so nutty and savory...
Dip the fried sundae in the tteokbokki sauce
When I dunked the fried sundae deep into Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki sauce, the glass noodles went soft and moist, and the fritter stayed crisp even after dipping. Perfect..

Fish cake broth comes out too, so if you ordered medium or spicy and it's too hot, one sip of this broth should cool it right down haha There are crisp fritters inside the broth too, so it has a nice chew~~
Is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch worth a return visit?
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch tasted really, reeeally good, and next time I want to go back for the instant tteokbokki. It's right in the middle between Yeouido Station and Yeouinaru Station, and since the Yongsan original is already known as a great spot, it lived up to my expectations.
The offal wasn't gamey, just clean and mild, and the portion was big. The fried food was a work of art. It stayed crisp to the very end, so I enjoyed that crunch the whole meal~ And the tteokbokki portion was huge too, so the two of us stuffed ourselves until we nearly burst haha
I liked that I could eat without leaving the station, and the seating was roomy, so there was no wait and the food came out fast~ If you're looking for a good tteokbokki place around Yeouido, I recommend Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch~!!
