Yongin market-day sundaeguk restaurant, large chapssal sundae: Yennal

Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Yongin Main Branch is a neighborhood sundaeguk (pork and blood sausage soup) restaurant on the jokbal street of Yongin Central Market in Yongin, Gyeonggi. On a market day at 11am, the writer and her mom ordered sundaeguk, the version without sundae, and a large chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage) for 33,000 won in total, and still waited 10 minutes because the place was full right at opening. The large chapssal sundae was so generous that the leftovers went home in a takeout box.

Sokcho ramen dinner with chashu-don and bottled cola: Ichiba Ramen

Ichiba Ramen is a ramen restaurant on Jungang-ro in Sokcho, Gangwon. Arriving just after 5pm on a summer evening with a friend, the order of karai ramen (9,500 won), tonkotsu ramen (9,000 won), a small chashu-don (5,500 won) and a nostalgic bottled cola came to 26,500 won for two. The karai ramen turns sharp and deep once the minced garlic is stirred in, and the sweet-salty sauce on the chashu-don makes it a good partner for either bowl.
