Dongtan mall restaurant for a shopping-day gomtang set: Baekok

Baekok Dongtan is a pork gomtang (clear pork soup) restaurant in the basement 1 food court of Lotte Department Store Dongtan in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. On a shopping trip, the writer ordered Baekok's signature pork gomtang set, which pairs clear broth and thinly sliced pork with cabbage dumplings and kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi). The soup was mild and free of any gamey smell, making Baekok Dongtan an easy solo lunch between stores.

Dongtan Chinese restaurant tangsuyuk takeout, still crispy: Bultina

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is a Chinese restaurant specialising in cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) at Namgwangjang in Dongtan, Hwaseong. For lunch the writer ordered the Bultina cockle jjamppong and a small crispy tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork); the portions were generous enough that the leftover tangsuyuk was packed to go, and it stayed crisp with no gamey smell even after cooling down at home. With its deep smoky broth and plump cockles, Bultina was a lunch worth a 200% return visit.
