Hanam Misa ramen restaurant with a menma topping add-on: Menji
In short
Menji Hanam Misa Branch is a ramen restaurant with house-made noodles on the ground floor of a bakery building by the Misa riverside in Hanam, Gyeonggi, sharing its entrance with the bakery. After a 10-minute wait one evening, the tori paitan ramen at 11,000 won came with a 1,500 won menma (seasoned bamboo shoots) add-on, while the 18,000 won handmade ramen and mini pork loin tonkatsu set was swapped to spicy tori paitan with mini cheese rice. The chicken broth was seasoned just right, and the plain tori paitan showed the best fundamentals of everything ordered.

A Japanese-style ramen spot I discovered in Hanam Misa 🍜 The combo of rich chicken broth tori paitan ramen with house-made noodles and pork loin tonkatsu was so good — reviewing Menji Hanam Misa Branch!

Menji Hanam Misa Branch oddly shares an entrance with a bakery — walk in and you'll see Menji's entrance right there! (the restroom is shared too)
I got lucky and parked right in front, but apparently they get a lot of calls asking cars to move, so I'd recommend parking at a nearby paid lot or at Hyerim Church instead.

Walk into the bakery building and Menji Hanam Misa Branch's entrance appears right away. The name Menji — meaning to 'discipline noodles' — carries their sincerity toward every bowl of ramen. Broth from chicken simmered for hours. Firm, unified handmade noodles pressed eight times. Toppings made by hand from good ingredients. They make a bowl of ramen you won't find anywhere else. Already so excited for how good this'll be 🤤

How long is the evening wait at Menji Hanam Misa Branch?
I visited in the evening and waited about 10 minutes to get in. Table turnover was fast so it emptied out quickly. With 6 bar seats + two 4-person tables, the interior is quite cozy.
From Totoro to No-Face, the place is full of small cute knick-knacks — felt like I was on a trip to Japan...✈️
What we ordered at Menji Hanam Misa Branch and what it cost

- ✔️ Handmade ramen + mini pork loin tonkatsu set ₩18,000 (spicy tori paitan swap ₩500 / mini cheese rice swap ₩1,000)
- ✔️ Tori paitan ramen ₩11,000 + menma add-on ₩1,500
That's what we ordered! I was really curious about the clear tori cold noodles too, but decided to try the signature first!
Table setup: gat kimchi, chili oil, phone charger and hair ties

Every table comes prepped with gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), chili oil, pepper, and utensils.
Every time I go to a ramen place I eat a huge pile of gat kimchi haha. Its official name is takanazuke: a Japanese-style pickle of mustard leaf and radish tossed in fragrant sesame oil.
They thoughtfully had a phone charger too! My battery was at 10% that day, seriously such a relief... haha. They also give you a hair tie so you can tie your hair back and focus on eating 😉
*You can ask for extra noodles mid-meal whenever you need them! There's a handy guide on how to enjoy the tori paitan ramen best.

⭐️ They also run a Naver receipt review event, so grab a free drink while you're at it.
Tori paitan ramen vs spicy tori paitan: what's the difference?

Tori paitan ramen 🍜 The pale, milky chicken broth with house-made fresh noodles is really charming. The noodles are thin so they soak up the broth beautifully. With plenty of scallion topping, it almost tastes like a rich chicken gomtang (bone broth soup) — subtle and clean, really delicious. Adding menma made the toppings feel even more abundant!

Spicy tori paitan ramen 🍜 With chili seasoning and cheongyang pepper topping, it's super spicy-hot 🌶️ The kind of flavor Koreans love ⑉♥ It cuts through the richness and leaves you feeling refreshed.

Mini pork loin tonkatsu with mini cheese rice
The pork loin tonkatsu that came with it was genuinely crispy, made with domestic fresh pork loin — the meat felt substantial and real. You also get one piece of takoyaki 🐙 We swapped to cheese rice since it's said to pair best with the spicy tori paitan broth^^
Both of us happily eating our own dishes hahaha. Ramen broth is usually pretty salty, but Menji's ramens were just the right level!
I usually ration my menma when eating ramen, but I'd ordered extra so I got to eat plenty of it lol. Wrapping menma, meat, and noodles together in one bite is the best!!
Mixing the cheese rice into the spicy tori paitan broth felt like eating cheese risotto haha.

After finishing half, we each added chili oil and pepper. Topping it with pepper made it taste even better 👍

Honest verdict on Menji Hanam Misa Branch
We cleared it perfectly ^_^
As a Japanese ramen enthusiast who's tried all kinds of ramen, I find Menji Hanam Misa Branch's chicken broth clean with really appealing depth of flavor.
The house-made noodles have a nice chewy texture, and the set menu composition was great too! It'd feel like a waste to just eat the ramen alone, but with tonkatsu, yakitori-don, and mini rice all packed in, you leave full and satisfied ~~ •*¨*•.¸𖧷˖
Personally I recommend the basic tori paitan ramen! As their signature dish, the fundamentals are rock solid and it was seriously delicious ෆ If you're looking for a good ramen spot in Hanam Misa, definitely visit Menji Hanam Misa Branch!
