Sea-view Tongyeong restaurant for a post-baby lunch date: Brown Hands
In short
Brown Hands Tongyeong (브라운핸즈 통영) is a sea-view Western restaurant on the 2nd floor of Tongyeong International Music Hall in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam. On their first date as a couple since their second child was born, the blogger and their spouse booked a weekday lunch and had wheel cheese carbonara, squid ink risotto, a seasonal salad and a daytime draft beer at a window seat. Today I'm introducing a Western-style restaurant in Tongyeong International Music Hall: Brown Hands Tongyeong! This was our first date, just me and my wife, since our second baby was born.
Where is Brown Hands Tongyeong, and how is the parking?
Brown Hands Tongyeong is on the 2nd floor of Tongyeong International Music Hall, and there is a big dedicated parking lot on the 1st floor. It turns out to be right next to Hansan Marina Resort in Tongyeong, where we've stayed before~

The parking is dedicated to the restaurant on the 1st floor and it's very spacious, so parking was really easy~ Take the elevator from the lot up to the 2nd floor and you'll see the huge entrance right away~
Do you need a reservation for a window seat, even at weekday lunch?
Even on a weekday at lunchtime, the window tables with the sea view were almost all full. Because we reserved ahead, we were shown to the very last window seat~

The interior is really big. There's plenty of space beyond the window seats too, so it looked great for family visits or small gatherings.

Brown Hands Tongyeong menu and what we ordered
Here's the menu~ We ordered a seasonal salad, squid ink risotto, wheel cheese carbonara, draft beer (blanc) and a Coke Zero~

They had a huge variety of wines, and lots of kinds of jelly too~ I was glad we didn't bring our son along this time~ haha
How does the wheel cheese carbonara arrive?
The wheel cheese carbonara at Brown Hands Tongyeong is a dish where the staff toss the pasta around inside a giant wheel of cheese. I liked that they brought out everything we ordered at the same time, and this was the star of the table!
To finish, they plate it, sprinkle on grated cheese, and then add one more layer of cheese on top! It's a cheese bomb, honestly~

Next is my favorite Western dish, squid ink risotto~ The savory depth the squid ink adds is superb~

When we eat Western food, we always order one salad each~ It's nice as a light side, right?

Since this was our first date as a couple after the second baby, my wife ordered a draft beer~ And draft beer in the daytime tastes 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

How did the food taste at Brown Hands Tongyeong?
Wheel cheese carbonara: the best of the day
The wheel cheese carbonara was less heavy than I expected and had a great savory depth. I tasted it first, before the cheese cooled down, and the noodles were chewy and delicious, so it was the best dish of the day!
We clinked glasses for a small cheers: let's raise our two boys well and live happily~ haha

Squid ink risotto: the grilled shrimp is the kicker
The squid ink risotto at Brown Hands Tongyeong was well seasoned and full of savory flavor, and the grilled shrimp on top was the kicker. It's my all-time favorite dish, and it was so good it made the one I had recently somewhere else look weak by comparison!!!

Seasonal salad: order one each
The seasonal salad had a great variety of ingredients: ricotta cheese, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, orange, dragon fruit, olives and more! It's nice to nibble between bites of the heavier dishes, so I recommend ordering one salad each!

The generous cheese they pile on was great with the carbonara, but it also went well with the squid ink risotto and the salad. If you like wine, the list is wide, so pairing would be really nice!
Is Brown Hands Tongyeong worth it for a couples' date?

The food, the window-seat sea view and the friendly staff were all good. We came for a date, just the two of us for the first time in ages, and every dish was delicious, the window seat gave a clear view of the Tongyeong sea, and the kind staff made it even better.
It's a bit out toward the edge of Tongyeong city, but it's easy to reach from tourist spots like the cable car and the luge, so it looked like a good stop on a Tongyeong trip too!

We come to Tongyeong from Geoje often, so whenever we crave Western food for a while, we'll probably head to Brown Hands Tongyeong! If you're curious about tasty Western dishes, I recommend paying a visit!
