Suwon chicken restaurant family dinner: two chickens and tteokbokki
Haenggung Jangjak Hanbang Tongdak is an old-style restaurant in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, that roasts whole chickens over a wood fire. After a day out in Haenggung-dong with the kids, the writer ordered the herbal wood-fired whole chicken (23,000 won), the Suwon galbi wood-fired whole chicken (25,000 won) and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes, 8,000 won), for 56,000 won in total. The most memorable moment was the sticky rice packed inside the chicken crisping into nurungji (scorched rice) on the hot iron plate.
