Last week my family went on a trip to Gapyeong, and before checking into our accommodation, we stopped for lunch at a dakgalbi (stir-fried marinated chicken) place near Namiseom. You can't talk about Gapyeong without talking about dakgalbi, but finding a restaurant where both parents and kids could eat comfortably was the most important thing.
Charcoal-grilled dakgalbi means you have to grill it yourself, which makes for a lot of smoke and stress about burning the meat — tiring! Hot plate dakgalbi, on the other hand, has staff cooking it for you, so we could eat comfortably. That's why we went straight for Hanok Dakgalbi Main Branch near Namiseom!

Hanok Dakgalbi Gapyeong Main Branch (한옥닭갈비 가평 본점) is a hot plate dakgalbi restaurant on Bukhangang-byeonro in Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi, sitting right across from the Namiseom ferry dock. The parking lot is huge, making it easy to visit, and you can also reserve a table through Naver Reservations.

The Hanok Dakgalbi Gapyeong Main Branch we visited sits directly across from the Namiseom ticket office, which made planning our travel route really convenient.
Keeping the restaurant on your right and walking up a small hill, you'll find a spacious customer-only parking lot with room for over 50 cars.
They also have a ramp and baby chairs ready, and the indoor seating is spacious with 160 seats — perfect for bringing along kids or parents.
A bottle of water per person, and a restaurant that gives back
After reserving through Naver, we arrived to find each of us given a neatly sealed bottle of water — very hygienic and satisfying to see.
What caught my eye as I stepped through the entrance was a notice posted on the wall about donations. It turns out Hanok Dakgalbi has been sharing a portion of every customer's bill with the local community and neighbors for 10 years — a genuinely good shop.
Hot plate dakgalbi with mozzarella cheese: how big is the serving?
Hanok Dakgalbi's hot plate dakgalbi is ₩16,000, and we added savory mozzarella cheese on top. The spice level is adjustable, so the kids ate happily without any worry.
Unlike other places that are mostly cabbage, this one was generously packed with domestic boneless chicken, which was really touching to see. Our chopsticks were flying — probably the best hot plate dish we'd ever had, and easily one of the best dakgalbi spots near Namiseom.
The udon noodles and flying fish roe fried rice we almost skipped
Hanok Dakgalbi's udon noodle add-on is ₩4,000, and the flying fish roe cheese fried rice is ₩6,000. We originally skipped the udon noodles worrying we'd get too full, but as we were nearly done, the kids asked for it, so we added it later.
But once we tried the chewy udon noodles soaked in all that sauce, we realized it really would have been a shame not to order it — a perfect match with the dakgalbi.
Next came the flying fish roe fried rice, which was much nuttier and popped more with each bite than regular fried rice — we were stuffed, but finished every last grain!
A great location right by Namiseom, excellent food, and a place that gives back to the community too — this restaurant is definitely worth saving on your Naver Map for your next Gapyeong trip!
Can you get takeout at Hanok Dakgalbi? Dine-in and takeout tips
Hanok Dakgalbi Gapyeong Main Branch also sells raw, uncooked dakgalbi by the 1kg unit for takeout, apparently great for taking to a pension or campsite to grill yourself.
Just keep in mind that due to summer hygiene standards, leftover cooked food after your meal cannot be packed up to take home.
