If you're looking for a good-looking large café to visit with your parents around Eonyang in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, keep this one in mind! This time I went with my in-laws and husband to

MUG, located in Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan. Honestly, there are so many large cafés popping up around Ulju and Eonyang these days. But MUG wasn't just big in size — the space itself has a story, which made it more memorable.
What surprised me most was that even though we visited on a weekday, there were so many customers.
It IS a weekday today, right?
My husband said this and we all laughed. 😂 Even though it wasn't the weekend, families, couples on dates, and people leisurely enjoying coffee kept coming in. Once we saw it in person, we understood why so many people come here.

It's a great spot for a drive from Eonyang, so it should suit anyone looking for a café to visit with parents in Ulsan, a large café in Eonyang, or a bakery café in Ulju-gun.
Is parking at MUG big enough?

There's a fairly large parking lot in front of MUG, so you can park comfortably before heading in.
A gallery café from the moment you walk in

MUG is a café I visit often, but there's always something displayed in a kind of gallery zone. This time it seemed to be pieces themed around light and shadow. Getting to enjoy art before you even sit down for coffee — that's part of what makes MUG special.
How MUG turned a wildfire site into a space of "recovery and comfort"

What made MUG even more special was the story behind the building. According to the café's own introduction, it was built on the site of a past large-scale wildfire, using charred wood that survived the fire, carrying the meaning of "recovery and comfort." Maybe that's why the building has a weightier atmosphere than a typical large café.
9-meter ceilings and a charred-wood interior
The grandeur of the roughly 9-meter-high ceiling was impressive, and the contrast between the dark charred wood and the natural scenery outside made the space itself feel like an exhibit.

Visiting with my in-laws, I found I preferred a café with a story behind the space rather than just a pretty one. Sipping coffee while saying
They really gave this building meaning.
and having the conversation flow naturally from there was nice too. Inside, there are exhibitions with up-and-coming artists as well, making it a cultural complex rather than just a café you drink and leave — the kind of place where slowly wandering around is part of the fun.
How busy is MUG on a weekday?
The thing that surprised us most on our visit — how many customers there were even on a weekday. It really hit home that MUG is already a well-known spot among cafés in Ulju-gun, Ulsan. At first I thought,
It's a weekday, so it'll probably be quiet~
but walking in, the atmosphere was livelier than expected! My husband glanced around and said, "It must be even busier on weekends," haha.
Still, since the café itself is large with plenty of seating and space, it never felt cramped. If anything, having people fill the spacious room just right gave the café a nice energy. Lots of families were visiting too, which made it easy for us to spend time comfortably with my in-laws.
What we ordered at MUG

Our family ordered the blueberry cream cheese cinnamon roll. There were several types of cinnamon rolls available — good to keep in mind.

MUG black latte

We only ordered signature items, but the MUG logo is so pretty. It really oozes a sense of luxury.

Iced americano, lemon yuzu tea, MUG lemonade — we ordered a bit of everything. When you go to a café with parents, tastes get pretty diverse, haha. Someone always wants an americano no matter what, someone wants a warm tea, and someone says, "Since we're here, we've gotta try the signature!" Thanks to that, our one table got to sample a wide range of MUG's menu.
Blueberry cream cheese cinnamon roll, 6,800 won
If you come to MUG, the dessert I'd personally recommend without fail is the blueberry cream cheese cinnamon roll. The look alone grabs your attention. With blueberries and cream cheese piled on top of the cinnamon roll, it looks rich and thick just from the photo.
Taking a bite, the soft bread and rich cream cheese come through first, then the blueberry's tartness steps in to balance it out. Cream cheese desserts can sometimes feel too heavy or too sweet, but with the blueberry added, it didn't get cloying at all — I kept reaching for more. The cinnamon flavor also wasn't overpowering, blending naturally with the cream cheese and blueberry instead.
With the family passing it around saying "just one bite~," it disappeared so fast I was glad I'd taken photos first. 😂 MUG also has apple cinnamon rolls and tiramisu cinnamon rolls, among others, but if you like blueberries, the blueberry cream cheese cinnamon roll is the one to get!
MUG black latte, 7,500 won
The MUG black latte has a name that makes the café's identity clear from the start. As a signature menu item that directly evokes the café's charred wood, it's worth ordering at least once on a first visit. Choosing something you can only get here, rather than a regular café latte, gave the visit a bit of a getaway feel.
It paired especially well with sweet, thick desserts like the blueberry cream cheese cinnamon roll. It was also interesting how the drink connects back to the space's overall concept.
Iced americano
An americano is a must alongside dessert. It did its job cleaning the palate between the other menu items. Especially after a bite of the cream-cheese-loaded cinnamon roll, a cold americano was a great combo. When visiting with parents, it seems like ordering at least one basic coffee that suits any taste is always a safe bet.

MUG lemonade, 7,000 won
If you're craving something refreshing, the MUG lemonade! It's sweet with a distinct lemon brightness, and paired nicely with dessert. After the rich cream cheese dessert, the lemonade felt like it cleared and refreshed the palate. It's also a good option for people who don't drink coffee, and would probably be even better enjoyed in the outdoor space on a warm day.
Lemon citron tea
The warm drink that completed our family's table was lemon yuzu tea. Having only iced drinks can feel a little bare, but with one warm tea added, it really felt like proper tea time with my in-laws. Bright, sweet, yet warm — a solid choice for anyone visiting with parents.
Sharing the cinnamon roll while each of us had our own drink in front of us, chatting away with my in-laws and husband, was genuinely a good time. In the end, I thought a good café isn't just about the coffee — it's a place that makes you want to keep talking with the people you came with.
The outdoor area at MUG is worth the walk
Another charm of MUG is its outdoor space. The tall-ceilinged interior is impressive, but stepping outside, the mood shifts entirely. It's a space blended with nature, so on a nice day it feels like a waste to stay indoors only.
On weekends in particular, the outdoor space is said to host an event filling the area with bubbles, which kids would probably love. From family outings like ours with parents, to families with young children, to couples on dates — it seems like MUG's strength is that people of all ages can enjoy it together. And since dogs are allowed in the outdoor area, this is also worth noting for anyone looking for a dog-friendly café in Ulsan.
Hard to walk past if you love bakery cafés
MUG felt less like a coffee-only café and more like a large bakery café meant to be enjoyed with baked goods. The cinnamon rolls especially stand out. Beyond the blueberry cream cheese cinnamon roll, there's an apple cinnamon roll and a weekend/holiday-only tiramisu cinnamon roll, which made me want to try other flavors next time.
We were satisfied with our blueberry cream cheese cinnamon roll, and now I'm curious about the tiramisu one too. If you love dessert, I'd recommend browsing the bakery menu rather than just ordering coffee.
Why MUG works for a visit with parents and in-laws
A photogenic spot, MUG

What I personally liked most about this visit was that it's a café that works well across generations. It would be great for a date with just my husband, but visiting with my in-laws actually let me appreciate this space's strengths even more.
We got to look around the vast, grand interior, talk about the story behind the café, and relax with good dessert and drinks in front of us. I could see why there were so many people even on a weekday. It's not just a 'pretty large café' for taking photos and leaving — you get to enjoy the space's story, nature, bakery, and coffee all together.
