On a return visit with their child, the writer had spicy mustard-green sundae-guk, spicy bracken sundae-guk, meat-only sundae-guk upgraded to a suyuk (boiled pork) set for 3,800 won, and half a plate of handmade assorted sundae with makgeolli (rice wine). The writer especially remembered the clean-tasting sundae, good even dipped in plain salt, and the self-serve kimchi. Verdict: Sinjuokmi Suwan District branch is a hearty, late-night-friendly sundae-guk dinner spot for parents with kids.

A family of three ordered the child's favorite, the Healthy Ssam Katsu (katsu wraps) for 2, plus the 200-hour handmade onion katsu, and a free fried shrimp served at dinner made the portions more than generous. With rice paper wraps, toast sandwiches from the self-serve bar and soft-serve ice cream, Filling Donkatsu made for a happy family dinner.

Gwangju Suwan hair salon: mid-length layered S-curl perm, Bomnal Hair

Bomnal Hair Suwan Branch is a hair salon on the ground floor of Suyeong Building in the Suwan area of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. At Bomnal Hair Suwan Branch, a grown-out perm and uneven self-cut ends were tidied with as much length kept as possible, then given a medium layered cut and a clinic setting perm for natural S-curls in about 2.5 hours. Verdict: the length stayed, and the S-curls and face-framing side layers came out exactly as hoped.
