Today I wanted a proper full-course meal in Cheomdan, so I visited Misikga Imokase Cheomdan Direct Store! As the name suggests, this isn't a place that serves just one dish imokase-style — instead they pile a whopping 17 dishes onto the table! Haha, no way a big-eater couple could resist that. Where is Misikga Imokase Cheomdan Direct Store, and what does it look like?
Misikga Imokase Cheomdan Direct Store is a Korean imokase-style restaurant on Cheomdanjungang-ro 152beon-gil in Ssangam-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. It catches your eye from far away with its flashy exterior, haha. I'd passed by a few times before!

The menu was posted outside, and it was seriously massive — samhap bossam, beef yukjeon, soybean-powder hoe, Korean beef cow yukhoe, spicy jjukkumi, braised pomfret, holiday japchae, dried pollack soup, and more, lol. Wow.

How good is Misikga Imokase as a private-room group dinner spot in Cheomdan?
Misikga Imokase Cheomdan Direct Store has a really spacious dining area and private rooms too, so it's well suited to group dinners. The hanok-style interior was clean and nice. It's much bigger in person than in photos.
With rooms available, it seems great for hosting a dinner gathering too. Want a Cheomdan group dinner recommendation? Misikga Imokase Cheomdan Direct Store. It seems perfect for family gatherings, friend meetups, or any larger group visit. Especially when a group has different cravings, right? Here you don't have to worry — you can have bossam, yukhoe, raw fish, jeon (pan-fried dish), jjukkumi, all of it, lol. Honestly the best.

How much does the Misikga Imokase set meal cost?
Prices are ₩35,000 per person for 2 people, and ₩30,000 per person for 3 or more! No need to agonize over what to order — just sit and the dishes keep arriving one after another, lol. The table starts filling up bit by bit from the beginning until it's completely packed with food.

What comes in the 17-dish set meal?
The course at Misikga Imokase Cheomdan Direct Store includes Korean beef cow yukhoe (raw beef) and beef yukjeon, so meat lovers are already happy right off the bat...🥹
Along the way there's holiday japchae, kimchi jeon, sanjang acorn jelly salad, and grilled Yeonggwang croaker, so it really does feel like a proper hanjeongsik (Korean set-course meal).
Top pick: mak-hoe heaped with roasted soybean powder
And the one I was really eyeing was the soybean-powder raw fish! It's topped with soybean powder and sesame oil for extra nuttiness.
Mix it well and wrap it in a perilla leaf — the fragrance and nutty flavor nearly knocked me out... My absolute top pick! So chewy and good!

My chubby other half isn't really into raw fish, so I ate it all myself. Hehe~~~ This is exactly the perk of a place with so many different dishes!

Braised pomfret and a perilla-oil fried egg
The braised pomfret is also on the menu, which would be perfect for anyone who loves this kind of braised fish. The seasoning pairs really well with rice — the kind of dish that makes you crave a bowl of rice.

This simple side dish, a perilla-oil fried egg, is just so good...♥

Samhap bossam and beef yukjeon
The samhap bossam lets you enjoy bossam (boiled pork wrap) together with aged kimchi and skate, so it really felt like authentic Jeolla-do food, haha. The aged kimchi was seriously delicious!! If you like skate, go for the full samhap, and if skate feels a bit much, the bossam with aged kimchi alone is tasty too!

Yukjeon with scallion salad is such a great combo, haha. With dishes coming out one after another like this, I honestly didn't know where to reach with my chopsticks first, lol.

Fruit and changeok-tteok rice cake to finish
Toward the end they bring out fruit, and surprisingly they also served changeok-tteok (a traditional rice cake)?! I heard these days you can barely get it without waiting in line at opening. If you're traveling in Gwangju, it'd be great to try it here!

Spicy jjukkumi, with fried rice at the end
You know you have to make fried rice after finishing the spicy jjukkumi (webfoot octopus), right!! Haha.

Calling it a 'course meal' doesn't mean small portions of a few dishes — it's a genuinely hearty spread, so it's even better with a group. Want a Cheomdan drinking-spot recommendation? Misikga Imokase Cheomdan Direct Store!

Eating this full and finishing with dessert, you could honestly end your night right here and head straight home, lol.

Is Misikga Imokase Cheomdan worth it? Final verdict
Overall, the biggest strength of Misikga Imokase is being able to enjoy a wide variety of Korean dishes all at once. If you're looking for a Gwangju restaurant, a Cheomdan Korean hanjeongsik dinner spot, or a dinner spot popular with locals in Cheomdan, I'd recommend giving this place a visit.
