Sushi Doku The Songdo (스시도쿠 더송도) is a sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo, Incheon, known as a place with waits near Tekeunopakeu Station. I went not long ago and completely fell for it, so I wanted to introduce it haha. If you love sushi, this is a place you should visit at least once! It's the Onesta Sushi Doku The Songdo branch that everyone in Incheon Songdo keeps talking about :-)

Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo?
Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, near the Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet (the locals call it Songhyeona). Onesta Mall connects to the outlet and the subway station by an underpass, so it's easy to reach whatever the weather.
I'm the kind of person who would get up in the middle of my sleep for sushi, and hunting for good sushi places in Songdo is one of my little joys! This time I was near the outlet, heard there was a very appealing spot on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, and ran right over haha.

Since the mall is connected to the outlet and the subway station by an underpass, it's really comfortable to visit in any weather. Among the restaurants near Tekeunopakeu Station, it was the best route for shopping and eating in one go! Afterward you can walk it off browsing the outlet, so I'd totally recommend it for a date or a family meal out :-)

What's the atmosphere like at Sushi Doku The Songdo?
Sushi Doku The Songdo has a spacious, pleasant main hall as well as private spaces for dining. It felt stylish right from the entrance! Once I stepped inside, the space was nicely put together.
The mood is soft and upscale overall, so I think it would satisfy everyone whether you bring your parents or treat someone to a meal!

How do you order at Sushi Doku, and what did I get?
Every table has a kiosk, so I could browse the menu slowly and order comfortably! It was a busy time, but there were plenty of staff and they guided us kindly, so I was in a great mood from the moment I walked in haha.

There were set menus in various combinations and single sushi items, and I ordered Sushi Doku's signature favorite, the 'Premium Sushi Special Set, 10 pieces (₩25,900)'! At first I wondered how the price would stack up against what you get, but the moment I saw the food laid out I blurted "Wow, this is amazing!" haha.

What comes in the Premium Sushi Special Set (10 pieces)?
The special set isn't just 10 pieces of sushi. It also comes with chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg custard), a fresh salad, crispy shrimp tempura and chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and warm udon, all laid out in a generous spread! I liked the filling lineup before I'd even tasted anything.

How does the melt-in-your-mouth aged sushi taste?

Chawanmushi and salad
First I warmed up my stomach with the soft chawanmushi included in the set. The bouncy, silky, pudding-like texture was just wonderful! There were plump shrimp and ginkgo nuts inside the egg custard too, so the savory flavor was a cut above.

The refreshing salad that gets your appetite going also went well with its sauce, so it was perfect to eat in between bites haha.

10 pieces of aged-fish sushi and the soy sauce brush
And now it was time for today's main event, the sushi! I heard Sushi Doku Songdo prepares its fish with a traditional aging method. Maybe that's why it looked different from the start, with a glossy shine all over.

You use the brush set out at the side of the table to lightly dab soy sauce onto the surface of the sushi. The rice doesn't fall apart in the soy sauce and you get just the right amount evenly, which I thought was a really convenient and clever way to do it 👍
The 10-piece set had top-quality toppings packed on: flounder, red sea bream, salmon, squid, sweet shrimp, lean tuna (akami), red shrimp, red crab meat, eel and ankimo (monkfish liver) and more! A staff member kindly told me, "It's even better if you start with the white fish," so I tasted them step by step in the recommended order.

The flounder sushi was chewy yet tender and wrapped my mouth, and the salmon sushi with its long tail draping over had no fishy taste at all, just pure richness! The piece topped with ankimo especially had a deep flavor, and I felt like I was being treated at a high-end Japanese restaurant.

The amount of rice (shari) was just right too, so I could deeply taste the thick, long cuts of aged fish itself. It's a great Incheon Songdo spot!

How were the shrimp tempura, chicken karaage and udon?
The shrimp tempura and karaage in the Sushi Doku set came out freshly fried, with thin, crispy batter. I ate them in between the sushi!

The batter isn't thick and is crunchy, which made it a real treat. The inside was moist, and it tasted like something that makes you think of a cold beer 😋

The udon that came with it had a clean, deep broth, and sipping it between pieces of sushi left my mouth feeling fresh and reset.

I heard the udon can be refilled too haha. The portion is surprisingly big and it was tasty!!

This was a freebie I got for writing a receipt review ♥️
Is Sushi Doku The Songdo worth a return visit?
Sushi Doku The Songdo had nothing lacking: great-quality aged sushi, a generous set, and friendly service! If you've been looking for a proper sushi restaurant in Songdo, I think this is a choice you won't regret haha.

The location is good, and parking and facilities are well covered too, so I strongly recommend enjoying a tasty meal of carefully made premium sushi at Sushi Doku Songdo 👍❤️
