Today I visited a spot that's newly buzzing in Pyeongdong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju — Jinsim King Donkatsu Pyeongdong Branch! I really love donkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), so I always make a point of tracking down places with good word of mouth. This is known as a Pyeongdong Station favorite and a Songjeong Station lunch spot, so I finally made my way here.
Is parking easy at Jinsim King Donkatsu Pyeongdong Branch?
Jinsim King Donkatsu Pyeongdong Branch has a large dedicated parking lot both in front of and beside the restaurant, so it's easy to visit by car. Parking is one of the biggest worries when picking a lunch spot near Songjeong Station or Pyeongdong in Gwangju.
With such a spacious dedicated lot able to fit several cars, I could pull in and walk in without any parking stress at all.
The exterior is done up in a clean, modern style, and the phrase "Made with sincerity" already had me excited before I even stepped inside.

The main hall at Jinsim King Donkatsu Pyeongdong Branch has 2-seat and 4-seat tables plus group seating, so it works whether you're dining solo or with a crowd. Walking in, I noticed a bright, comfortable dining room, and the table layout looked like it could easily handle group parties too.
Every table has a tablet ordering device (kiosk), so you can take your time browsing the menu and easily order and pay.

The Jinsim King Double Donkatsu (₩17,900) comes with two big cutlets of king-size donkatsu piled generously with demi-glace sauce. When it landed on the table, I couldn't hide my surprise. True to the "king" in its name, it arrived with a hefty two whole cutlets!
The breadcrumb coating was wonderfully crisp, while the meat inside stayed juicy and tender. Topped with a rich, sweet and savory demi-glace sauce, it really delivered the classic king-size donkatsu charm.
The side salad and cucumber-chili peppers cut through the richness perfectly, so I could enjoy every bite until the end.
A big bowl packed with fresh vegetables: the Jinsim King Bibimbap
The Jinsim King Bibimbap (₩10,900) arrives in a large bowl generously loaded with lettuce, bean sprouts, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, seaweed flakes, meat topping, and a savory fried egg. I ordered it to pair with the donkatsu, and the portion and presentation were impressive.
Mixed together, the crunch of the fresh vegetables and the sweet-spicy seasoning sauce paired beautifully with the donkatsu — a truly great combination.
