What is Songnim Bok near Jungang Station in Ansan like?

Songnim Bok is an all-you-can-eat eel restaurant near Jungang Station, and it offers not just eel but unlimited pork belly and chicken too. It's hot out these days and I felt I needed some stamina food, so I went looking for good restaurants near Jungang Station and found Songnim Bok (송림복장어).

Honestly, I only went for the eel, but the menu surprised me. Unlimited eel is amazing enough, but unlimited pork belly and chicken too? With prices these days, all I could say was "what a bargain."

Inside, it was bigger than I expected, with plenty of tables, so we could eat comfortably. Even on a weekday there were quite a few customers, so it seems to be well known among locals already.

How was the charcoal-grilled eel at Songnim Bok?

The charcoal-grilled eel at Songnim Bok had almost no fishy taste, and the meat was plump and tender. The moment we sat down, we ordered the eel first.

When the eel went onto the charcoal, a savory aroma was already rising. Eel is such a bewitching food. It gets your appetite going from the moment it hits the grill.

I picked up a golden-brown piece and it was much more tender than I expected. Almost no fishy taste, just a clean, nutty flavor filling my mouth, and I understood why people turn to eel for stamina.

The meat was plump with a nice chew, and the moderately rich texture really satisfied me. I put a piece of eel on lettuce, added garlic and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), took a bite, and thought, this is happiness.

Are the unlimited pork belly and chicken at Songnim Bok worth eating?

The pork belly at the Songnim Bok refill bar was better than expected, and with chicken as well, you can pick whatever suits you. After a fair amount of eel, I went at the refill bar in earnest.

Pork belly was set out too, so I grabbed some right away, but honestly, since it's all-you-can-eat I didn't expect much, you know? But the meat was in better shape than I thought.

Grilled over charcoal, it kept a decent amount of juice, and it was perfect to eat in between when eel alone feels heavy. My companion even ate more pork belly than eel. There was chicken too, so you can enjoy a variety depending on your taste, which I really liked. They also gave us one bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) for free as an opening event.

Why Songnim Bok is good for a family dinner

Songnim Bok lets you enjoy eel, pork belly and chicken all at once, so adults and kids can both be satisfied. At most eel restaurants you end up eating only eel, but here you get all three, so satisfaction was much higher.

I could see why so many families come. Adults eat the eel, kids eat the pork belly or chicken, and everyone's happy.

Would I go back for the all-you-can-eat eel at Songnim Bok?

The biggest strength of Songnim Bok is that you can eat pricey eel in unlimited amounts without feeling self-conscious. Eel is one of those foods that's hard to eat freely because of the price, so being able to eat as much as I wanted here was really nice.

I can't even remember how many times I went back for more. Even when I was stuffed, I kept wanting one more piece of eel. The staff were friendly and kept the grill well maintained, so I could eat comfortably the whole meal.

If you're looking for a stamina meal near Jungang Station, a place for a family dinner, or a good-value all-you-can-eat restaurant, I think Songnim Bok is worth a visit. Unlimited eel plus pork belly and chicken is a truly rare combination. I left properly full for the first time in a while, and my satisfaction was high. I plan to return the next time I need a stamina boost.
