A new Korean BBQ spot on Bandalseom to recharge after work
The weather's getting warmer and work has been wearing me down, so I badly needed to recharge, right? I wanted to oil myself up properly and heal, so I went hunting for a hot new place that opened near my office, and I found a total gem.

It's Cheongnyuok, a brand-new Korean BBQ and meat restaurant that just opened on Bandalseom in Danwon-gu, Ansan!

It was so good that I knew I had to immortalize it on my blog. Here comes my honest review of Cheongnyuok, which won over this seasoned office worker in one bite!

Does the BBQ smell stick to your clothes at Cheongnyuok?
Cheongnyuok has a clean exterior and a comfortable interior, so I highly recommend it for office dinners and gatherings. I dashed over right after work!

From the outside it gives off a fresh, clean "I just opened~" vibe. It takes up a big space on the building's first floor, so it was really easy to find.

Inside, even though it's a BBQ place, it wasn't stuffy with smoke or smell at all. So comfortable I was moved... When I go out for BBQ I usually worry first about the smell getting into my clothes, but the ventilation here is really good, and I was very happy.

Group seating, baby chairs and wheelchair access at Cheongnyuok
The restaurant is spacious enough for groups, and besides baby chairs, the entrance, seating, and restrooms are all wheelchair accessible. There are also accessible parking spaces! The owner's thoughtfulness really showed. I love these careful touches that let anyone dine comfortably... For friends, family gatherings, or a team dinner, you'll definitely get credit for good taste.

Cheongnyuok Boridon mixed platter 500g: price and taste
The Boridon mixed platter (500g) is ₩43,000 and comes with both pork belly and pork neck. Cheongnyuok is also known as a hanwoo (Korean beef) butcher's restaurant, but we were craving pork today, so we ordered one of the best sellers, the Boridon mixed platter!

While we sat chatting, the side dishes arrived along with the gorgeous meat. Wow... the moment I saw it, the bright pinkish-red color made it obvious with my own eyes how fresh it was.

Cheongnyuok's introduction says every menu item is made with top-grade ingredients, carefully prepared and cooked the traditional way, not from meal kits, and seeing the meat quality, I understood that pride right away. Once the grill heated up, we laid on the pork belly and neck one after another, and with a sizzle, the delicious smell started filling the air.

Crispy pork belly and tender pork neck
Slurp... time to really dig in! I tried a piece of well-cooked Boridon pork belly first, with no dipping at all, and the moment I bit down, savory juices burst in my mouth! You know that crispy-outside, juicy-inside feeling?

Maybe because the pigs are raised on barley, there was zero gamey smell and the chewy texture was a work of art. The pork neck I grilled next wasn't dry at all and was super tender!

It's cut thick so the bite is satisfying, and paired with the clean side dishes served by default (pa-kimchi (scallion kimchi), pickles, and more), I could have eaten endlessly. The stress from the commute melted away with each piece... I kept exclaiming and polished it off in no time.

Finishing with mul naengmyeon (cold noodles) at Cheongnyuok
Cheongnyuok's mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth) is ₩6,000, the cool, clean finish that's the golden rule after BBQ. As we got through a good amount of meat, it was time for the finale no office worker's BBQ routine can skip. Naengmyeon time! We ordered the cool dessert mul naengmyeon on top.

The moment the icy mul naengmyeon arrived, I lifted the whole bowl and took a big gulp of the broth first... Ahh, I couldn't help making that sound.

The broth was clean and deep, washing away the greasiness of the meat completely! Other blog reviews say the galbitang (beef rib soup) broth is also clear and rich, so this place seems to make great broth in general. The noodles were springy and chewy, perfect for slurping.

I saved a thick piece of Boridon pork belly, wrapped it in the naengmyeon and ate it in one roll, and it was a truly heavenly combo... Carbs, protein, and cool broth came together in perfect harmony, and I enjoyed it right to the last bite.

Is Cheongnyuok worth it? Final verdict
- Taste: ★★★★★ (the juiciest Boridon mixed platter, and the combo with naengmyeon is love)
- Atmosphere & hygiene: ★★★★★ (newly opened and spotless, comfortable with no smoke)
- Service: ★★★★★ (friendly staff, and the thoughtful facilities were moving)
There weren't really any clean BBQ places worth going to around Bandalseom in Ansan, which bugged me every time, but I finally found a go-to place of my life! The lunch menu also has meals like seolleongtang (ox bone soup), galbitang, and yukhoe bibimbap (beef tartare rice bowl), so next time I'm definitely coming for lunch.
If you're an office worker near Bandalseom in Ansan looking for really good-quality meat in a clean place, or anyone wanting a comfortable family meal, I wholeheartedly recommend Cheongnyuok! You won't regret it! 🤍
