Crispy Yurin-gi at Glory Works, a Bucheon Chinese restaurant

I recently heard that a very hot new Chinese restaurant had opened near Sangdong Station, with a wait at every lunch rush. If you love Chinese food but hesitate because of that characteristically greasy atmosphere, pay attention! I made a real opening-run visit to Glory Works, a Bucheon Chinese restaurant said to offer the ultimate fried texture with fresh ingredients delivered directly from the source every morning, in a stylish, clean café-like interior ^^

Three hours of free parking and a café-like space?

Located on the first floor of Sigma Tower in Bucheon, Glory Works is right by Exit 8 of Sangdong Station, so it is wonderfully accessible by public transport. I drove over for a weekday solo-dining opening run ^^ There was plenty of underground parking, which made things so easy, and they provide a full three hours free. I was happy to have enough time for a relaxed coffee after my meal, too.

At the entrance, there were waiting seats and a large full-length mirror—such a thoughtful touch for guests in line. Once inside, it was not the greasy-feeling Chinese restaurant we all know, but an interior stylish and modern enough to pass for a café ^^ Mostly four-person sofa tables were generously spaced apart, making this a perfect Sangdong spot for comfortable conversation. Thankfully, because I came right at opening, I could enjoy my solo meal without feeling self-conscious.

Clean place settings and table ordering

What I especially liked here was the cleanliness. The open kitchen glimpsed behind the counter looked very clean, and when I opened the drawer beside my table, the utensils, disposable tissues, and wet wipes were all lined up perfectly. It really inspired confidence in their hygiene standards ^^

Ordering is easy: simply use the tablet kiosk at the table yourself. The sets, from dishes to full meals, looked substantial and reasonably priced, so it would be great to come with a group and share. The self-service bar on one side was also impeccably organized, from aprons and tableware to side dishes—an unblemished Sangdong Station restaurant.

Yurin-gi’s crunch and tangy, spicy sauce

I debated fiercely over whether to try the signature garlic tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), then ordered the bestselling yurin-gi (fried chicken with soy sauce) à la carte. Even though orders were backed up, the dish arrived faster than expected ^^ Perhaps because they use clean oil, the fried coating was light in color and looked incredibly appetizing.

The moment I bit into the yurin-gi, the outside was so crisp it went crackle-crunch, while the chicken inside was thick, juicy, and wonderfully chewy. There was absolutely no off smell from the meat, and the quality of that batter was honestly insane!

Then the house sauce—sweet and tangy, with the sharp kick of finely chopped chili—makes the savoriness explode. Plenty of fresh lettuce and raw onion underneath freshen up the spicy notes, making this a true Bucheon Chinese restaurant that you keep devouring without ever getting tired of it ^^

Kind service after my solo meal

After polishing off a whole plate of yurin-gi by myself, I was so disappointed that I had not ordered another meal item, such as jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) or jajangmyeon (black bean noodles). At the counter when paying, I saw that toothpicks and candies were neatly prepared as well ^^ High chairs were also well stocked, so it looked perfectly suitable for a family meal with children.

Most of all, thanks to the owner, who stayed smiling and kind even while busy, I got to start the day in a great mood. Next time, I need to come with a group and properly demolish the garlic tangsuyuk and jjamppong too ^^

Parking around busy Sangdong Station is always a headache, right? At Glory Works, use the building’s Sigma Tower underground parking and you get a generous three hours free! That is plenty of time to run an errand nearby or have a cup of tea after eating, so shake off the parking stress and enjoy delicious Chinese food at your leisure ^^
