Summer stamina dak hanmari for two in Dongdaemun Market: Sunhuine
In short
Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun is a 200-seat Korean restaurant spread over two floors in the Dongdaemun chicken hot pot alley, between Jongno 5-ga and Dongdaemun stations in Seoul. Two of us came for a summer stamina meal and ordered dak hanmari (whole chicken hot pot, 2 servings) at 33,000 won plus yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef rice bowl), and the portions were so generous there was no room for the knife-cut noodle add-on. Tender chicken dipped in the special sauce alongside fresh yukhoe bibimbap is the combination worth ordering at Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun.

A go-to spot for Korean food in Dongdaemun Market, so famous that tons of foreign tourists visit — the real-deal Dongdaemun favorite "Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun." Here's how it went getting some summer body-boosting in on a hot day!
Where is Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun, and when is it open?

- ▫️ Daily 10:30–22:30

Located on the Dongdaemun dak hanmari (chicken hot pot) alley between Jongno 5-ga and Dongdaemun stations. Among the countless chicken hot pot shops on this alley, this one stands out with its red sign and big size.

Both the shop name and menu were written in foreign languages, and sure enough, once I actually visited, there were so many tourists! Lots of tourists means one thing — it's a genuinely famous restaurant.

Two floors, 200 seats: can Sunhuine take a big group?
Sunhuine Bindaetteok Dak Hanmari Dongdaemun spans two floors with 200 seats, making it perfect for group dinners or gatherings. The space was bigger and more comfortable than I expected. You could feel the "this-place-is-good" smell the second you walked in, haha.

While I was eating, so many foreign tourists kept coming in! Seems like it's become a rising favorite among foreigners visiting Dongdaemun Market.

I visited with my boyfriend, just the two of us, and ordered dak hanmari and yukhoe bibimbap for a bit of summer body-boosting.

Side dishes and the self-serve bar
The basic side dishes were pickled onions and kimchi — isn't that such a perfect match for dak hanmari? Extra side dishes were available at the self-serve bar, which was super convenient too.

How to mix the dak hanmari special dipping sauce
And now for the signature kick of dak hanmari — the "special dak hanmari sauce." Isn't this basically the whole reason you order dak hanmari?

There were instructions for making the sauce, so I mixed minced garlic + mustard + dadaegi (Korean chili paste) + soy sauce together with cabbage and chives.

Dipping the warm, soft chicken into this slightly spicy, tangy special sauce is basically heaven...

Dak hanmari plus yukhoe bibimbap: enough food for two?
My order: dak hanmari and yukhoe bibimbap combo! I was torn between the mung bean pancake and the yukhoe bibimbap, but went with the bibimbap after seeing reviews praising it — and the amount of raw beef was huge, with really great quality meat. You can tell how fresh the yukhoe is just from the photo.

The dak hanmari had a clear, refreshing broth loaded with vegetables. I saw a lot of people finishing the meal and adding the knife-cut noodle add-on, but we were too full to add it — sob.
They seem to use good, big chickens. The chicken was really tender, and it came in one huge pot with an endless amount of chicken and vegetables — so much that we couldn't even manage the noodle add-on...

As it boiled away, before the chicken was fully cooked, we started with the rice cake add-on — the rice cakes were so soft and chewy.

They don't seem to use much seasoning either, so the healthy, clean flavor really comes through in the dak hanmari. At this level, this might be the best spot on the whole Dongdaemun dak hanmari alley 🤍

The yukhoe bibimbap was also great — fresh, crunchy vegetables mixed with fresh raw beef, tasting as good as yukhoe bibimbap from a Korean beef specialty restaurant! I recommend the dak hanmari + yukhoe bibimbap combo ♥️♥️
