Suwon date lunch with spicy taco pizza and ades: Low Five Sinpung

Low Five Sinpung is a pizza and pasta restaurant that recently opened on Sinpung-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. On a clear autumn day the writer ordered a half-and-half corn and taco pizza with vongole pasta, lemon ade and grapefruit ade — the corn pizza was the savory standout, and the taco pizza turned quite spicy once tabasco was added. With Hwaseong Haenggung, Haenggung Plaza and the Suwon Museum of Art all close by, Low Five Sinpung works well as a date lunch before a walk.

Bongdam Korean restaurant with beef seaweed soup side bar: Hwadamga

Hwadamga is a newly opened Korean restaurant in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong, serving grilled fish and meat set menus. On a weekend lunch with a child, Hwadamga's grilled mackerel set and wood-fired pork set came with a self-serve bar holding pan-fried meatballs (dongeurangttaeng), japchae and beef seaweed soup, so there was no need to order a separate meal for the child. With sofa seating, baby chairs, a private room and a large car park, Hwadamga is an easy choice for a family gathering with kids.
