Sit-in pie café in Bangbae: new matcha cream pie, Hodukkakki Brothers
In short
Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae branch (호두까끼형제 방배점) is the second company-run store of a handmade walnut pie specialist, near Naebang Station in Bangbae, Seoul. Unlike the takeout-only Dogok-Yangjae branch, Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae has tables, so the writer sat down with the new matcha cream walnut pie, whose slightly bitter matcha paired well with the nutty walnuts. Not too sweet and handmade, the pie makes Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae a good stop for a sit-down break or a gift to take home.

How is Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae different from the Dogok-Yangjae branch?
The Bangbae branch of Hodukkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) has tables, so you can sit and eat your pie there. I love Hodukkakki Brothers~ Because of distance I mostly go to the Dogok-Yangjae branch, but it has no tables, so it's takeout only. Bangbae has tables, so it's a decent place to meet a friend, or to rest for a bit when you've come to pick up takeout :)
How to get to Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae from Naebang Station
Leave Naebang Station by Exit 8, turn into the second alley and walk about 100m; the shop is on the left. It's right after the Seoripul Tunnel from Seocho Station, so it's an easy distance from Gyodae or Seocho-dong too.

Can you park at Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae?
The front of the shop looks like you could park there, but parking is not allowed. If you're coming by car, I'd recommend parking nearby.
I used the Bangbae Open Culture Center public car park across the road. It's cheap, close and pleasant, so parking was easy.

What kind of walnut pie shop is Hodukkakki Brothers?
Hodukkakki Brothers is a walnut pie specialist that started in 2017 at the Dogok-Yangjae branch. All those years of recipes and know-how go into every single pie!
They say they don't use refined sugar and sweeten with oligosaccharide syrup, honey, maple syrup and other natural ingredients, so the sweetness is deep rather than artificial. The whole pie is made by hand, 100%, so you can feel the time and care.
The Bangbae branch is the company's directly run second store, not a franchise, so you get the same quality of handmade pies as at Dogok-Yangjae^^

Atmosphere at Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae
Like the Dogok-Yangjae branch, the Bangbae shop is small and warm, focused on pies. As the second directly run store, it carries over the Dogok-Yangjae mood and quality, with a cozy Bangbae feel added :)

The freshly baked pies on display feel comfortable and homey. Many people come to pick up whole pies or buy gifts, so the shop has a lively feel. You can sense the regulars in the space too :)

What pies does Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae have?
At the Bangbae branch you can order single slices as well as whole pies.

- Signature walnut pie
- Original pecan pie
- Macadamia cheese pie
- Hazelnut cacao pie

- Matcha cream walnut pie
- Sweet pumpkin pie
- Milk cream walnut pie
- Cream cheese walnut pie

- Mini pecan pie
- Mini walnut pie

Premium mix pies and assorted pies
There's a Premium Mix Pie where you pick the pie types one by one, and a Premium Assorted Pie with 4 kinds of pie in it. The prices for whole pies and single slices are all written out, which made them easy to check.

The whole-size Premium Assorted Pie cake has a detailed description, so take a look!

How long can you keep the walnut pie?
Storage for Hodukkakki Brothers pies is 7 days in the fridge, 30 days in the freezer and 3 days for the cream, but I think it's best to eat them as soon as you can.

Hazelnut cacao meets Dubai! They had a Dubai crispy pie too.

How did the matcha cream walnut pie taste?
I ordered the new matcha cream walnut pie at the Bangbae branch, and the bitter matcha aroma went well with the nutty walnut. The water wasn't plain water either, it was seriously good water! Hahaha
I already love the milk cream walnut pie so I ordered the new cream walnut pie without a second thought! Haha The faint bitter matcha aroma rising up and meeting the nuttiness of the walnut was a great combo. It went well with the strawberry jam base too~
It isn't very sweet, so I think it would also make a nice gift for parents or teachers :)

Hodukkakki Brothers is a great dessert café in Bangbae! The desserts use wholesome ingredients, so I think it would also be good as an afternoon snack for kids^^
