Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo, and can you park?

Sushi Doku The Songdo (스시도쿠 더송도) is on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, 157 Songdogukje-daero, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea. It offers 2 hours of free parking in the underground car park, so it's super easy by car. Hours are 11:00-21:00 (break time 14:30-17:00), with last order at 14:30 for lunch and 20:15 for dinner.

I've been visiting Incheon a lot lately, haha. Of all the Incheon neighborhoods, Songdo is the cleanest with the nicest vibe, so it's my favorite. I heard Songdo has lots of great restaurants, but Sushi Doku is a famous chain you can't really go wrong with, right? They say it ranks #1 on Naver search among 4,852 single-store sushi places in Korea, and #1 nationwide in Baemin favorites. It's already proven in Seoul, so of course I figured it'd be good in Songdo too, and off I went!

Onesta Mall, where Sushi Doku The Songdo is located, connects to Homeplus and the Hyundai Premium Outlet. If you're shopping at the outlet and a sushi craving hits, you can just cross over to Onesta Mall.

Is there a wait at weekend opening time?

At 11am opening on Saturday there was no wait, but quite a few tables were already filled. There are lots of offices nearby, so weekday lunch looks like it would be packed, but as a weekend lunch I luckily didn't have to wait. Even though I got up early on a Saturday to go, seeing this many people made me think, okay, this really is a Songdo sushi hotspot.

How do you order, and what did we get?

You order on tablets placed at each table. I ordered two Premium Sushi Sets (₩25,900 each) and one Coke Zero. These days a place without a kiosk is the weird one, haha.

Are the seats and mood good for dates and family meals?

Besides open hall seating, Sushi Doku The Songdo also has what looked like private rooms, and the hall seats are nicely screened off with fabric. I sat in the open hall, and I thought it would be great for bringing your parents, for a date, or even a blind date, haha. Because the lighting looks so pretty, hehe.

Cutlery comes individually wrapped, with chopsticks and a brush for spreading soy sauce inside. Spoons are in a drawer under the table along with tissues and such, haha.

What comes with the Premium Sushi Set?

The Premium Sushi Set at Sushi Doku The Songdo comes with 10 pieces of sushi, salad, chawanmushi, udon, shrimp tempura and karaage, a tableful of food, sooo much of it. I squealed the second I saw it.

Truffle-scented chawanmushi

I started with the chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) as a palate opener, yay, haha. Silky steamed egg is always good, right? The chawanmushi here has a truffle scent that got my appetite going even more.

In what order should you eat the sushi?

Staff recommended eating from white fish to red fish, so I started with the squid first. Chewy, nutty squid sushi..🤎

Look at me, such a diligent white-fish-first eater, hahaha. The ankimo (monkfish liver) on top made it even better, and when I got tired of it, the red crab meat and red shrimp sushi let me start over fresh.

The udon in the set

The udon in the Premium Sushi Set didn't taste like store-bought udon either; the noodles were springy and chewy. So I set aside some of the sushi rice and finished the whole bowl of udon..🥲

Tuna and salmon sushi

Next were the tuna and my beloved salmon!! I thought I only liked salmon sushi with onion and sauce on top, but the salmon here isn't fishy at all, so it was tasty without any special topping, haha.

Karaage and shrimp tempura

Karaage and shrimp tempura, need I say more, haha. I usually add fried items when I go to a sushi place, and since they come with the Premium Sushi Set, there's no need to order them separately, which I thought was more economical.

Saving the eel, sweet shrimp and ankimo gunkan for last

I saved the best for last: the eel, sweet shrimp and ankimo gunkan (seaweed-wrapped sushi). The eel was tender with no tiny bones, and I love ankimo so much that I wondered whether to get one more piece.. but I thought of my diet and held firm.

Is there a Naver review event?

If you write a Naver review at Sushi Doku The Songdo, they give you an otoro (fatty tuna) sushi as a service, which is amazing, right? Haha. I was already full from the food I'd been served, so I didn't take the freebie..! But do be sure to write one and eat more tasty sushi.

Is it worth going back?
