Namyangju brunch café for a beginner's drive date: lawn seats, MR

Where is MR Namyangju Main Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

MR Namyangju Main Branch (엠아르 남양주본점) is a Bukhan River brunch café at 1602-22 Bukhangang-ro, Hwado-eup, Namyangju, Gyeonggi. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–19:00, with last order at 18:30, and closed every Monday. You park in the dedicated lot in front of the café.

I've done plenty of drives around Namyangju, but there are still so many places worth visiting, it seems. This weekend we made it a driving-practice drive date and visited the Bukhan River brunch café "MR"!

Is it okay for new drivers to park?

The dedicated parking lot at MR Namyangju Main Branch is big, so even for a beginner driver like me parking wasn't hard, haha. We came on a weekend afternoon and there was no wait, but quite a few people had come early to enjoy brunch.

There are so many cafés and restaurants along the Bukhan River in Namyangju, but at MR the river opens up wide and close, and there's a water leisure spot right in front, so it's fun to watch. It was so green that just looking at it felt healing :)

What are the inside and outside of MR like?

The inside of MR Namyangju Main Branch is spacious enough that a big group wouldn't be a worry, and it's all floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can eat while looking at the Bukhan River even indoors. MR is a Blue Ribbon restaurant, no less, so I was excited before even eating, haha 🩵 We ordered our food and went to look around inside~

It's bigger than I expected, so I think it suits family and friends' gatherings as well as dates, and I loved that the big windows let you eat while looking at the scenery outside. Window seats, definitely!

I think restrooms matter when you visit a restaurant or anywhere, and MR's is tucked at the back inside and seemed neatly kept, which I was happy about :)

There are autographs from famous celebrities hanging up too!!

This seems to be a photo zone for pet dogs, which is a nice touch from the owner for the pups 👍 There were plants in every corner, and it's decorated really well with cute little props and interior details.

Water and tableware are self-serve, and there are baby chairs

At MR Namyangju Main Branch, water and tableware are self-serve! Small plates come in several types, and forks, knives and spoons, everything you need, are there. They even have baby chairs and baby tableware, so it looks very easy to visit with a baby.

Outdoor seats with a view of the lawn, dogs welcome

MR's outdoor seating is really spacious, and dogs are allowed. It wasn't very hot, so we took our food and settled outside where we could see the green lawn. This photo was taken on our way out, but families were next to us with kids running around, haha, and some people had come with their dogs.

What did we order at MR?

MR is famous for handmade burgers, and we ordered the Mountain Burger, the one with the most ingredients, lol, plus a spicy carbonara so it wouldn't feel too heavy. They also have salads, homemade cakes and lots of drinks, and you can even enjoy beer and wine.

How does the Mountain Burger taste?

As a signature menu item, the MR Mountain Burger was really big and generously packed. The beef juices, cheese and sauce all went together so well, and the fries that came with it were tastier than at any fast-food place, haha.

How spicy is the spicy carbonara?

I wish MR's spicy carbonara had been a little spicier, but it cut the richness, so I felt we ordered just right. It was the thick, creamy style I like!

The portions are big, so for two people one Mountain Burger and one pasta seems just right :) I wanted to try the cream coffee too, but it seemed like too much.. what a shame.

MR's photo zone and the way out

MR Namyangju Main Branch has photo-worthy spots in every corner, and one of them is a cleverly made mirror photo zone!

We took one too, haha (faces hidden, because I'm shy..). Even we, who hardly take photos, snap pics whenever there's a mirror 😆 I really love things like this.

Last of all, on the way out I got a surprise, lol. It must be the owner's cat 🐱 so cute. MR was a Bukhan River brunch café I'd love to visit once more when the weather's even nicer 🩵
