Dongtan hair salon magic setting perm for sun-damaged waves: Juno Hair
In short
Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch is a hair salon near Dongtan Station in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, on the 2nd floor of the Lotte Front Castle Building B shopping arcade. The writer's naturally wavy hair, further damaged by sun exposure from cycling, got a magic setting perm at Juno Hair: the roots were straightened and the ends given a C-curl, then the volume was thinned out for light, swingy summer hair. With a kids' play room and 7 shampoo areas, Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch is an easy pick for family visits.

Where Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch is and how to get there
Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Lotte Front Castle (Lotte Castle) shops near Dongtan Station. I always walk past it when I use Dongtan Station and Lotte Department Store Dongtan, so it's easy to reach and parking is convenient.

Get off on the 2nd floor, follow the shop corridor, and keep going inward where the Juno Hair signs point.

A Roman-temple-style entrance and photo zone
This is the entrance of Juno Hair Dongtan. The salon was designed with a Roman temple feel to give it a dreamy atmosphere. The overwhelmingly large faucet right at the entrance was reportedly made because the salon opened during COVID. You can wash your hands with Juno Hair products and use their hand cream too. ✋🏻 I also heard the natural light here is great, so it's a good photo spot. Take a picture of your freshly done hair~ 📸

Inside: the White Zone and the Brown Zone
The salon is split into two main areas: the White Zone near the entrance and the Brown Zone further in. You can freely choose where to get your treatment. Near the entrance you can look at Juno Hair's hand wash, hand cream, shampoo and other products made with natural ingredients, safe even for babies and pregnant women.

Both zones are surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, so there's lots of light, and you can see the view outside during treatment. It didn't feel stuffy at all, which I liked.

A play room and 7 shampoo areas: can you bring kids?
Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch has a play room (kids' area), so it's comfortable for the whole family to visit. 👦🏻👧🏻 I saw a child who came with their mom playing safely inside, and I think that would be a real plus for customers with babies and toddlers.

There are also 7 shampoo areas: 2 are spa rooms, 1 is a private single room (scalp care), and there's a shampoo station with a full-body massage function, said to be the first in Dongtan. 👍🏻 The shampoo area is dimly lit and quiet, so it was really relaxing while I got my hair washed. 💆🏻♀️
The magic setting perm process: straightened roots, C-curl ends
The treatment I had at Juno Hair Dongtan SRT Station Branch was a magic setting perm. The roots are straightened with a magic straightening treatment to relax wavy hair naturally, and the ends get a C-curl for a natural curve. Because two treatments, one for calmness and one for volume, are done at the same time, it takes a fairly long time.
My hair is naturally a bit wavy, so I get regular straightening. This time I missed my usual timing because I was getting treatment for alopecia areata (patchy hair loss), and I visited Juno Hair when my hair was at peak frizz. 😅 On top of that, I'd been cycling across Jeju Island, so my hair was exposed to UV rays the whole time and was quite damaged. 🛜 I booked through Naver.
🧃 Thank you for keeping me well supplied with drinks and snacks throughout the treatment. 🍪

First came a check of the overall condition of my hair and a consultation about the style I wanted. After shampooing, a softening cream was applied, my hair was wrapped in plastic wrap, and heat treatment followed.

After the heat treatment, my hair was shampooed and dried, and the root straightening went in first. Then the lower part got a C-curl perm using a digital perm machine. (I have a lot of hair, and overly strong curls would actually look messy, so the designer kept the curl moderate and natural.)
The finished magic setting perm, after thinning
Finally, after the neutralizing step, my hair was shampooed and blow-dried, and it came out calm and smooth. 💇🏻♀️ The heavier inner layers were thinned out too, so I ended up with light, swishy hair for the hot summer 🙌🏻

The designer used good-quality products, so my hair stayed moist and sleek all the way to the ends. 🤗 They also showed me how to style it when blow-drying at home, which made it easier to keep the curl while drying.
