Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Bongdam (한마음정육식당 봉담점) is a butcher-style BBQ restaurant in Bongdam District 2 that sells both pork belly and beef, and with no table setting fee the value is amazing! A friend came to visit me in Bongdam and we were wondering where to eat. Beef, it's been so long,, We were starving and it was evening, so we went on the spur of the moment, and the food looked great and the building was clean.

How is parking at Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Bongdam?

You can park in the building or in the public parking lot right in front, then head up to the 2nd floor. I liked that it's in the new town area. Hanmaeum is a chain and apparently more branches are opening in neighborhoods these days, so I'm glad there's one in Bongdam~

A good atmosphere for family meals and gatherings

Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Bongdam is large even among the BBQ places in Bongdam District 2, so it works well for a family meal. The prices are good, so it's perfect for get-togethers too, and the interior was totally my taste. Of all the BBQ places, this was the best one! The staff were friendly too.

Also, there are lots of good restaurants and cafés nearby, so it's a handy spot for a second round. District 2 really has so much to eat, I'm so happy...

Half cow for ₩39,000: is it enough for two?

The half cow at Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Bongdam is 500g for ₩39,000, and it was just the right amount for two. We couldn't decide what to eat and ended up ordering the half cow. Look at that glowing color,,? Other BBQ places aren't like this, the color here was really different from the start.

At ₩39,000 for a half cow the price isn't a burden, the presentation is clean, and you can have a drink with it too, so it's even better for a group!!

They set out doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean stew) by default.. what a nice service!! Very good. Other restaurants charge ₩5,000–6,000 for it, so the value is great, and the meat looked really clean. The beef's color was so different it nearly blew my mind ㅠ With the stew coming along too, it's a dream pairing,,,haha. Good service and good value.

Charcoal-grilled beef and what to eat with it

The meat is grilled over charcoal, and I liked that the beef cooked quickly. I'd only been eating pork lately, so this beef was seriously delicious. Mushrooms and chili peppers come along too, and with doenjang jjigae and rice you'll be stuffed lol It was more food than I expected.

We also ordered bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) to go with the stew, and it totally hit the spot. The basic side dishes were good and the sauces were clean-tasting.

The ratio of fat to lean meat was perfect, and it wasn't greasy at all. Eating good beef is like a full-on health boost, I felt energized,,!haha

The bibim naengmyeon had springy noodles and a sweet-and-spicy sauce, so it wasn't heavy and got my appetite going..! If you go to Bongdam District 2 for pork belly, order some beef as a bonus..

The more you chew, the more savory flavor comes out, and each cut had a subtle, clean, tender taste. Every single bite was a wow at Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang! I was torn between pork and beef, but I'm glad I picked beef. The rich nuttiness of the fat suited me perfectly,,, a perfect harmony, my beloved Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang.

How was the brisket marbling?

The brisket (chadol) in the half cow at Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Bongdam had such good marbling that it was delicious just dipped in salt. One bite of stew, one bite of naengmyeon,, one bite of meat! Great for gatherings, with high-quality meat and perfect juiciness. Brisket is always the right choice haha

Every bite burst with soft, nutty meat flavor. It was so tender it melted the moment it hit my mouth. I felt like I was eating real hanu (Korean beef)! It felt like a fancy meal, not just dinner. It was way better than eating at home, so I'm going again with friends!!

Is naengmyeon a must after BBQ?

The bibim naengmyeon at Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Bongdam goes perfectly with the meat, so it seems a lot of people order it. If you're having pork belly or beef in Bongdam District 2, naengmyeon is a must!! They have mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) too, so you can mix it up!

The taste and texture are good and the prices aren't bad, so ordering a few things to share would be nice. There are also several side dishes and rice dishes, so they're worth ordering.

What occasions suit this BBQ restaurant?

Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Bongdam seems good for friend get-togethers, formal business meetings, and even parents' 60th birthday (hwangap) or birthday dinners. The owner was friendly, and it was so tasty I want to go again. If you're looking for a BBQ place with a nice atmosphere in Bongdam District 2, Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang is worth a visit at least once. I'll definitely be back~!
