Gangnam Station fusion Korean date on a Monday at 5pm: Moa Gangnam

In short

Moa Gangnam is a modern fusion Korean restaurant on Teheran-ro 5-gil, between Gangnam Station and Yeoksam Station in Seoul. The writer and her boyfriend booked a Monday 5pm table, right after the break time, and ordered coconut shrimp salad (16,900 won), gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste) bulgogi arancini (15,800 won) and grilled pork jowl with chamnamul chimichurri (26,900 won). By 6pm Moa Gangnam was full: the mood and food make it a strong pick for a date or group dinner, but book ahead even on weekdays.

Wood-tone interior of Moa Gangnam

Monday 5pm, right after the break time: the atmosphere

Inside, warm wood-tone interiors and soft lighting make it feel cozy. We booked for 5pm on a Monday, just after the break time ended, so my boyfriend and I were the first guests of the evening.

Moa Gangnam table with cutlery already set

Every table is already set with cutlery. The place fills up fast, so I guess they prepare ahead for quick service. There are various seats, including tables for 2 and for 4.

Do you need a reservation on weekdays?

When we left around 6pm, Moa Gangnam was completely full. Even a Monday gets crowded at mealtimes, so I recommend booking in advance.

Moa Gangnam coconut shrimp salad topped with fried shrimp

Coconut shrimp salad: big enough to order as a main

The coconut shrimp salad (₩16,900) comes with 8 plump pieces of fried shrimp and a homemade dressing. I tried it first and the vegetables tasted fresh. The portion is really big, so I think you could order it as a main rather than a side.

Moa Gangnam signature gangdoenjang arancini

What does the signature gangdoenjang arancini taste like?

The signature gangdoenjang arancini (₩15,800) comes with the arancini sitting on top of gangdoenjang sauce. Looks delicious from the very first glance, right? haha

Arancini served on gangdoenjang sauce

Arancini is a traditional Sicilian dish of rice balls coated in breadcrumbs and fried. It usually comes with ragù or tomato sauce, but at the fusion Korean restaurant Moa Gangnam, the arancini is served on top of gangdoenjang sauce.

Gangdoenjang arancini with fried rice paper

It goes really well with gangdoenjang. Eat it with the fried rice paper that comes alongside and you get double the crunch!

Chamnamul chimichurri pork jowl with 4 sauces

The chamnamul chimichurri pork jowl (₩26,900) is crispy-outside, juicy-inside grilled pork jowl with a fragrant chimichurri sauce made from chamnamul (a Korean aromatic wild green). It came right after the arancini, with four sauces: yuja doenjang sauce, whole grain mustard, Maldon salt and wasabi sauce~

With four sauces, every dip gives a different taste, which I loved.

Is Moa Gangnam good for a date?

This Korean-Western fusion restaurant near Gangnam Station has a great atmosphere and good food quality, so I wholeheartedly recommend it as a date spot. It also looks good for group gatherings or wedding invitation meetups.
