I visited during Saturday lunch on the weekend, and it was already packed with customers.
Shabu-shabu and hand-cut noodles are food everyone loves, so the customers ranged widely in age — kids, students, families, and elderly folks were all there.
Yangcheon Shabu Son Kalguksu also sells summer specialties like yeolmu guksu (young radish kimchi noodles) and kongguksu (cold soy milk noodles) made with domestic black soybeans.

At this Magok lunch spot, Yangcheon Shabu Son Kalguksu, Magok Main Branch, hocheon fruit tea comes out instead of water. It had a nice nutty flavor, haha.

The black garlic hand-cut noodles came out right away too, haha. They said they're made using domestic black garlic!
The perilla oil five-color rice also comes out ahead of time, and the colors were so pretty, haha.
What makes this Magok lunch spot, Yangcheon Shabu, appealing is the genuine broth made from Korean beef bone stock and 8 kinds of herbal medicine ingredients with no additives. It also comes topped with plenty of minari (water dropwort), which is great for detox. 💚
Put a few pieces of beef into the shabu-shabu, and once cooked, dip them right into the sauce ~!!~!~

Are the crispy potato pancake and rolled dumplings worth adding?
The potato pancake we ordered as a side! It was so crispy and delicious, haha. They give you scissors so you can easily cut it up to eat.
Order one plate of rolled dumplings and you get 5 pieces. The wrapper was thin and the filling was packed full, so I ate them so happily, haha.
They're good eaten on their own, or dropped into the shabu-shabu to eat with the broth, so I'd definitely recommend ordering the rolled dumplings.
Finishing with black garlic hand-cut noodles and egg fried rice
Once we'd eaten most of the meat, in went the black garlic hand-cut noodles from Yangcheon Shabu Son Kalguksu!
Since it's fresh noodles, they can stick together easily so you need to stir them every so often, you know? We like our noodles well-cooked, so we let them boil a long time, haha.
I really love making kalguksu (hand-cut noodles) at a shabu-shabu restaurant, haha. This Magok lunch spot, Yangcheon Shabu Son, was also a great noodle spot!
After the noodles, crack in an egg and finish with porridge-like fried rice ~!
Since it's a genuine broth with no additives besides Korean beef bone stock and 8 herbal ingredients, you'll enjoy it most if you make it somewhere between fried rice and porridge, haha.

At the counter there was mouthwash, glasses cleaner, deodorizer, hand sanitizer, hair ties, candy, and more — lots prepared for customer convenience!
After finishing your meal, plum slush is provided as dessert on your way out!
I scooped out a totally refreshing plum tea with a ladle and had a cup. After a healthy shabu-shabu meal, finishing with plum tea that aids digestion — a great meal near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station that left me patting my very full belly.
