Sushi is something I need to eat regularly 🍣🍣🍣 So I went to Moshi Moshi, a sushi restaurant near Pusan National University (PNU) that has been loved for a long time.
What is Moshi Moshi PNU Branch?
Moshi Moshi PNU Branch is a sushi restaurant at 271-5 Geumgang-ro, Geumjeong-gu, Busan (1st floor). It is open daily 11:00–21:30, with a break from 15:00 to 16:30. There is also a building parking lot you can use.

With over 20 years of Japanese cooking experience, Moshi Moshi reportedly also runs directly managed sushi counters at Lotte Department Store Gwangbok and Lotte Department Store Dongnae, not just near PNU. The PNU main branch has held this spot for 15 years, so that alone tells you how good it is, right?

There's a menu board at the entrance where you can take a quick look. The sets (se-teu) at this PNU sushi spot are especially amazing. And today I'm having a set again, hoho.

Atmosphere and group tables at Moshi Moshi PNU Branch
The interior of Moshi Moshi PNU Branch is done in natural wood, so it feels cozy and warm.

Sushi and other Japanese food are often chosen for get-togethers, so Moshi Moshi PNU Branch has group tables for 6–8 people. Maybe because it's a great spot for small meetings and gatherings, students come often, but there were also lots of older customers.
What comes in Moshi Moshi's ₩39,000 Set 1?
Set 1 at Moshi Moshi PNU Branch costs ₩39,000 and comes with 16 pieces of sushi, one noodle dish and roe rice. The menu also has single-person meal sets in the ₩10,000 range, à la carte sushi, cooked dishes and sashimi, but I went with Set 1.

The cutlery comes individually wrapped.

The sushi and roe rice came out first, along with the salad and soft tofu that come standard with the set. The clear soup is one cup per person. That clean, tidy Japanese look and the blue plates feel really neat.

One bite of the cabbage salad before eating! The dressing is fresh and clean, so think of it as an appetizer.

Which 16 sushi pieces come in Set 1, and how do they taste?
The 16 pieces in Set 1 are plenty for two people, with a varied lineup: white fish, red fish, shrimp, flame-seared sushi, inari (fried tofu pouch) sushi and egg.

How should you eat the wasabi?
Moshi Moshi PNU Branch doesn't put wasabi inside the sushi, so take the wasabi from the corner of the plate, put as much as you like on the sushi and dip it in soy sauce.

The amount of rice is just right and the seasoning of the sushi rice (shari) isn't strong, so you can fully taste the fish and other toppings.

Once the soba arrives too, the generous spread is complete~~ And the roe rice in a hot stone pot, with that crackling sound of rice crisping up, really gets the appetite going,

and it has kimchi, pickled radish and shredded seaweed in it, so it's sneakily delicious 🤤

How do I put it.. the fish is totally chewy, I guess.. springy, plump, that kind of feeling.

The raw shrimp was so good too.

The flame-seared sushi and the anago (conger eel) were good too.. And if you're worried it won't be enough, you can order à la carte sushi at Moshi Moshi, so after trying the set, you could order a few more pieces of just the ones you liked and want more of.

My personal favorites! These are the kind you could give to little kids and they'd eat them happily. The egg is soft and fluffy, and the inari is salty-sweet and chewy.

Is cold soba the best noodle choice for the set?
For the Set 1 noodle dish I chose soba, and the soba at Moshi Moshi stood out for its broth, which isn't salty but mild, with a quietly good flavor.

If you put in a lot of noodles at once, the broth can freeze up, so only add as much as you can slurp in one bite. The noodles are already springy, and meeting the cold broth makes them even more refreshing. It's so hot these days, so definitely order it with your set haha!😋
I recommend Moshi Moshi, the sushi spot near PNU. It's so delicious. There's a reason a place stays loved for so long!
