Summer-night pork BBQ for three in Suam-dong, Ulsan: Biniljip Suam

Biniljip Suam Branch is an outdoor-street-stall-style pork BBQ restaurant in Nam-gu, Ulsan, right in front of the Suam Raw Fish Center. On a midsummer evening, three family members ordered the Biniljip hanpan set (500g of pork belly, pork neck and chewy kkodeul pork neck) and used a self-serve bar with unlimited jeon (savory pancakes) and ramyeon. The high ceiling kept Biniljip Suam Branch cool even in summer, and the meat was good enough that they ordered more.

Eonyang, Ulsan café while heavily pregnant: lemon smoothie at MUG

MUG (카페 먹) is a large single-story bakery café and cultural space at 90 Hyangsandagae-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, in Ulju, Ulsan. With a full-term pregnancy and a heatwave ruling out a long trip, the writer spent a vacation day at MUG ordering the MUG lemon smoothie, a strawberry yogurt smoothie and lamington cake; the signature cream cheese cinnamon rolls were sold out. With a gallery exhibition and an outdoor zelkova tree space to explore, MUG was a good choice for resting close to home.

Yangsan Oslo Park restaurant for an indoor summer lunch: Bueokgan

Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is a Western restaurant on basement level 1 of Building BL at Oslo Park in Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan, Gyeongnam. On a hot summer day planned around indoor stops, the writer ordered a light lunch of napa cabbage Caesar salad, seafood tomato pasta, pumpkin soup and grapefruit ade, and especially liked the thick pumpkin soup and the mild seafood tomato pasta loaded with seafood. With a domed ceiling said to be inspired by Sweden's Nationalmuseum, plus a kids zone and baby dishware, Bueokgan is an easy choice for a family meal.
