Neopttakjip Samsong Branch (넙딱집 삼송점) is a retro-style Korean BBQ restaurant on the 1st floor of Jun Plaza near Samsong Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi, with a spacious half-level-down hall and private rooms built for company dinners. Two diners shared the 600g mixed grill set for two: five name-tagged cuts (pork neck, pork belly, hayansal, saitsal and kkodeulsal) eaten with chopped chili relish, garlic scape salad cut lengthwise once more, and aged kimchi wraps that kept every bite from getting heavy. The side dishes alone make Neopttakjip Samsong Branch a pork BBQ spot worth becoming a regular at.

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a haejangguk (hangover soup) and tripe soup restaurant in Samsong, Goyang, near Starfield Goyang. On a fourth visit, the writer ordered one seonji (ox blood) haejangguk and one tripe soup, asked for extra glass noodles, shared both, and tried the 80g dombe pork (Jeju-style boiled pork) from the special set for the first time. Packed with seonji, napa cabbage, bean sprouts and meat, Jeju Eunhui-ne's soups make a filling weekday lunch for office workers.

Sweet potato cheese katsu near One Mount, Ilsan: Jeongseong Katsu

Jeongseong Katsu Ilsan KINTEX is a pork cutlet (tonkatsu) restaurant in Goyang, Gyeonggi, a 6-8 minute flat walk from One Mount Waterpark. The order was the classic Western-style king pork cutlet set and the sweet potato cheese katsu, known as gochidon, which can be topped up in units of two pieces and was customised to six. With pork cutlet sauce, wasabi and salt all on the table, one plate at Jeongseong Katsu covers several flavour combinations.
