Charcoal pork set for two at Todam Hwadok, a Gwangmyeong restaurant
Todam Hwadok Saengseongui (토담화덕생선구이) is a grilled-fish and Korean set-menu restaurant on the 3rd floor of a building by the Anyangcheon stream in Cheolsan, Gwangmyeong. The writer and a friend ordered the charcoal-grilled pork set for two, which came with smoky pork and onions, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), freshly cooked hot-pot rice, and a self-serve bar offering side-dish refills plus pumpkin porridge, clay-oven sweet potato and grapes for dessert. The spread at Todam Hwadok is tidy and never over-salted, making it an easy pick for family gatherings or a meal out with parents.
