Where is Eosa Chulto Hongdae Branch, and can you book a table?

Eosa Chulto Hongdae Branch (어사출또 홍대점) is a sashimi restaurant and pub very close to Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station. You can book a table ahead through Naver Reservation. A friend who lives far away was coming all the way to Hongdae, so I was overjoyed..! I left work, skipped my workout and headed to Eosa Chulto for day drinks. I arrived a bit early, so I walked over from Hapjeong as a little stroll.

Since you can reserve a table in advance through Naver Reservation, I'd recommend booking if you have a gathering or plans!

Eosa Chulto Hongdae menu and value for money

The menu here is huge, and what stands out is how many extra little menu boards are posted besides the main one, haha.

When seasonal dishes or new sets come out, they stick new menus up along the side, so keep your eyes peeled (?)! The set menus are especially varied, and every set includes spicy fish stew (maeuntang), so you get a really great-value, hearty meal!

I took photos of the menus so you can see them nicely. The keyword that comes to mind with Eosa Chulto,, is value for money! It really is good value!! It's not just that the sashimi is cheap: there's sashimi, seafood, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and more, and it's relatively cheap compared to other sashimi restaurants.

And here's another plus of these bargain spots, number 2: lots of people come > high turnover > fresh fish. They say live fish is delivered every day at 11 a.m. and sliced right away, so the freshness should be,, good!

When is the Eosa Chulto Hongdae lunch special, and how much does it cost?

Lunch menus at Eosa Chulto Hongdae can be ordered from 11:30 to 15:00, with prices in the low ₩10,000s. The best-value menu is definitely lunch!! You know lunch is almost ₩20,000 these days, right ㅜ Compared to that, this is top value,,

The menu is varied too, with rice dishes, stews, rice bowls, noodles and more, so it seems great for office workers around Hongdae to drop in for a quick lunch. We went at lunchtime too and ordered the lunch sashimi set (hoejeongsik) for two.

Eosa Chulto Hongdae interior and group gatherings

The interior is fairly roomy and reportedly holds up to 48 people. It also felt well kept. The tables were clean and not sticky at all. At a lot of cheap sashimi places the hygiene is a mess, but this place was neat and nice. I also got the feeling quite a few foreign guests come here.

With such a big space, they say larger gatherings like company dinners, meetups and alumni reunions are possible, so it's worth asking them.

What comes with the lunch sashimi set for two?

The lunch sashimi set at Eosa Chulto Hongdae comes with 3 side dishes, spicy fish stew, a bowl of rice, 9 slices of sashimi and 3 pieces of sushi, all served separately per person. Hongdae sashimi pub menu, let's start! The 3 sides are seasoned radish (musaengchae), bean sprouts and kimchi.

Spicy fish stew and rice served first

The spicy fish stew came out first! I expected just a small taste portion, but it was seriously generous. It was spicy and rich, so good for day drinking.

They give you a full bowl of rice each too, haha. A real lunch meal~~ Koreans run on rice power!!

9 slices of sashimi and 3 pieces of sushi per person

Then came the sashimi and sushi! You get 3 pieces of sushi and 9 slices of sashimi. Each person gets their own plate, which is hygienic and somehow makes you feel treated well, and the spread is really solid!!

Where else can you eat a spread like this for ₩13,000 a person? What value ;;

You can order it until 3 p.m., even in the late afternoon, so I highly recommend it for anyone wanting light day drinks, a casual sashimi lunch, or great value!

The sashimi wasn't sliced too thin either; the thickness was just right.

Seafood pancake and ramen as day-drinking add-ons

We added a seafood pancake and ramen on the side of the sashimi set. Ta-da!!! Each of us finished a bottle in a flash. But stopping there would be a shame, so

I added a seafood pancake (haemuljeon) as a side! It was chewy with a slightly starchy feel. Totally my style.. so delicious.. If you're wondering which side to get, I recommend this one.

And with a carb shortage (?) haha, we added one ramen too and filled our stomachs.
