Gangnam Station fusion Korean date: 2 flounder dishes, arancini, Moa
In short

A Korean restaurant near Gangnam Station that's good for dates: Moa Gangnam
Moa Gangnam is a Korean restaurant on Teheran-ro 5-gil near Gangnam Station, and I've finally found a great spot for a blind date or a date date 😆 Restaurants near Gangnam Station that really suit a date are harder to find than you'd think. The vibe tends to be a bit off or too noisy.. fine for group get-togethers, but not so easy for a cozy chat with just one friend or your date, you know?
Restaurants around here rarely have a wait, but when I visited Moa Gangnam at about 7pm on a weekday, there were around 5 groups ahead of us! Definitely a hot place these days haha

Moa Gangnam menu and prices
Moa Gangnam has a strong fusion Korean lineup, with distinctive dishes like gondre cream sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) and vongole kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup). Most dishes are ₩10,000-29,000, so it's not a big burden, which I think is part of why it's so popular!
The share of women guests was overwhelmingly high, which probably means there are lots of dishes that win women over, right? Even people watching their diet for health reasons these days can enjoy it without feeling weighed down.

Moa Gangnam atmosphere and side dishes
The sound echoed a little, but overall the restaurant felt clean and stylish, and quite a few groups of 4 or more were dining there. The staff were also very friendly, which made it even better 😀

The side dishes were simply pickled radish and jalapeños, and they were nice to nibble on between bites! Not very Korean, more like being at a Western restaurant.

Three dishes for a day I wanted something light
At Moa Gangnam I ordered three dishes: spicy flounder buckwheat noodles, barley gangdoenjang arancini (thick soybean paste stew with fried rice balls), and flounder kimchi rolls. I'd had a lot of meat the day before, so I went for fresher dishes. Many were not too heavy, nicely light but still enough for a meal, so it's perfect for dinner with a few drinks. Honestly there wasn't a single weak dish on the menu, so choosing was hard :(

Spicy flounder buckwheat noodles: a taste that calls for soju, like mulhoe
The spicy flounder buckwheat noodles at Moa Gangnam are mulmakguksu-style (cold buckwheat noodles) bibim noodles topped with flounder sashimi 🐟 The sauce is tastier than at most buckwheat noodle specialists, and the portion is generous, so nothing is missing. See how much flounder sashimi is piled on!
With dishes like this the sauce matters a lot, and this one was sweet and sour, a flavor that won't divide people. It was also nicely cold, and since there's no ice in it, it doesn't get watered down.

One bite and I ordered soju right away..❤️ The spicy flounder buckwheat noodles go great with soju, just like mulhoe (spicy cold raw fish soup)! The buckwheat noodles themselves were springy and good, and combined with the chewy flounder it's the best haha. If you like mulhoe, you'll definitely love this.

Flounder kimchi rolls: wrapped in gamtae, a must for Korean food lovers
The moment I saw the flounder kimchi rolls on the menu at Moa Gangnam, I thought of Nampo in Seongsu! Good looking and tasty, so it can't fail.. a must for Korean food lovers!!!

The aged kimchi was crunchy and tangy, the real kick, and the mild flounder with salted squid (nakji-jeot) is a work of art! Wrapped in gamtae (a thin seaweed), it's just the right combination.

If I could recommend just one dish at Moa Gangnam: the barley gangdoenjang arancini
If I had to recommend one dish at Moa Gangnam, it's this one..🥰 The barley gangdoenjang arancini, definitely a dish with its own character!!!

The barley gangdoenjang arancini is a bulgogi rice ball fried crisp and set on top of thick doenjang stew. The crunchy fried crust is appealing and the seasoning is just right! I loved it so much..🧡 Korean food lovers will definitely like this one too.
What I'd eat if I went back
If I go to Moa Gangnam again, I'd like to try the other dishes one by one, like the cream sujebi, meatballs and pot rice, they were that appealing. If you're looking for a Korean-style pub near Gangnam Station with a good atmosphere for a date, highly recommended 💪 I liked every dish so much that I'd happily visit many times, totally satisfied 💯💯💯
