Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant is a hanok-style charcoal butcher restaurant on Eondong-ro in Giheung-gu, Yongin, near Eojeong Station. A pregnant blogger visited for a weekend lunch with her husband and child, picking 158g of hanwoo lower sirloin, 138g of hanwoo skirt and 270g of Hi-Pork selected neck to grill over charcoal, along with non-alcoholic beer, hanok doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and homemade mul naengmyeon (cold noodles). Thanks to the meat quality, the terrace atmosphere and tender meat the child ate happily, Dongbaek Hanokjip made a satisfying family meal.

On a Sunday evening, a couple and their child shared the 1kg half-and-half set of fresh and marinated galbisal (boneless beef rib meat) for 63,000 won, added stone pot rice, and all three left full. Yongin duck shabu-shabu restaurant for a family lunch: Seonbong

Seonbong Sandeomi Ori (선봉산더미오리) is a duck restaurant on Seongsan-ro in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, best known for duck bulgogi ssambap (duck bulgogi with rice and lettuce wraps) and duck shabu-shabu. On a weekend lunch with my husband and child, we had duck shabu-shabu (₩14,000 per person) and acorn pancake. The duck stayed tender however long it simmered, the broth had no gamey smell, and the two house sauces won over the whole family. Seonbong Sandeomi Ori's duck shabu-shabu is a great pick for families with kids who want something lighter than beef shabu-shabu.

Gongdeok izakaya for a couple's dinner while pregnant: Orot Robata

Orot Robata is a Japanese dining izakaya in Mapo, Seoul, between Gongdeok and Daeheung stations near the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, and the second branch of Orot, a Blue Ribbon pick six years in a row. After a walk on the forest trail with her husband, the pregnant writer sat at the Orot Robata bar on a weekday evening and ordered tomato kaisen nabe (seafood hot pot), uni cream pasta, nonalcoholic wine and Hwayo25, for a total of 109,000 won. Orot Robata is a little pricey, but the food, atmosphere and friendly service make it a dinner spot worth recommending for couples in Gongdeok.
