I love hunting for new restaurants with my mom, so today we went to Mount Sunday, a brunch café near our home in Yangsan that already has a great reputation by word of mouth.

I chose Mount Sunday because of the soft potato gnocchi. There was actually a special reason for this visit. Since my mom had dental implant surgery, she had been eating only porridge and other soft foods for a while. Eating similar things every time, we were wondering what else she could try, and then I suddenly thought of soft gnocchi made from potato.

It is easy to chew and tastes good, so we went together, and it turned out to be a really satisfying meal.

We went on a weekday afternoon and it was still almost full. The moment we walked in, I understood why it is so famous as a brunch café in Yangsan.

Mount Sunday is a stylish brunch café with plants, wood-tone interiors and an open kitchen. The first things I noticed when I opened the door were the lush green plants and the warm wood tones.

On one side, imported ingredients and small props are displayed naturally, so it felt like being in a brunch restaurant abroad.

Above all, the open kitchen let us watch the cooking, which was impressive. Seeing how the food is made made me trust it more, and the whole place was kept neat and clean.

The tables are spaced comfortably, and every corner looks pretty in photos, so I thought it would be great for a date or a visit with friends.

A neat self-service bar too

Mount Sunday has a self-service bar. Pickles, plates, small plates, the cutlery you need and water were all neatly set out, so we could help ourselves as much as we wanted. It is a small thing, but this kind of convenience adds to the satisfaction.

When the food first arrived, I thought, "Huh, it's more than I expected?" but once we started eating, it was an amount that really left the two of us full.

Truffle mushroom gnocchi: can you eat it comfortably after implants?

The truffle mushroom gnocchi at Mount Sunday was fluffy and soft enough that even Mom could eat it with no trouble. Gnocchi was the dish I was looking forward to most, and the gnocchi made from mashed potato was truly soft.

The cream sauce was rich without being heavy, so we enjoyed it to the very end. The mushrooms and truffle aroma on top gave it a luxurious flavor, and the lightly seared outside kept a pleasantly chewy texture. I understood right away why it is the signature dish.

Shrimp bisque oil pasta

Personally, the shrimp bisque oil pasta was the most memorable dish of the day. I never expected to find such delicious pasta at a brunch café in Yangsan.

It was generously loaded with plump shrimp, and the deep savory bisque went wonderfully with the nutty richness of the oil. Oil pasta can get heavy, but the freshness of the tomato and the crunchy topping kept it from getting boring to the end.

The noodles were cooked just right with a good texture, and it was the kind of dish where you keep reaching for another bite, so it was the first plate to be emptied. If you like pasta, I really hope you try it.

Even the potatoes were perfect

The potatoes served as the B set's side were better than expected too. Crispy outside and moist inside, they were addictive dipped in the sauce that came with them. I thought of them as a light side in a set menu, but the portion was generous and I was happy with it.

After the meal, we finished with a cold americano and enjoyed a relaxed brunch.

Where do you park at Mount Sunday?

There is room for about two cars in front of Mount Sunday, but since it is in a planned residential district, there may be no space. I recommend using the Hwangsan Village public parking lot.

The Hwangsan Village public parking lot is free for the first hour, so it was easy to use without worrying, and it is only a 3-minute walk from the shop, which made things much more convenient.

Overall impression

On my first visit to Mount Sunday, a brunch café in Yangsan, I could tell right away why it always has so many customers. The stylish atmosphere, the lush plant interior, the open kitchen you can trust, the generous portions, and above all the pasta that was better than expected and the soft gnocchi: there was nothing to complain about.

Mom was so satisfied that she said, "Next time I want to try other dishes too," and I definitely want to come back as well.
