Dalgom's (닭강정 달곰's) is a dakgangjeong (crispy sweet-glazed Korean fried chicken) shop inside Jeil Market (제일시장) in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, that fries every order fresh. The writer chose the 3-flavor set for 24,000 won in garlic soy, chili sauce and classic yangnyeom (sweet-spicy sauce), and all three flavors stayed crispy. Dalgom's has a clean shop and kitchen but closes early once the day's ingredients run out, so go before it gets late.

Prefers Diet Food Nowon Station branch is a salad and diet food restaurant on Sanggye-ro near Nowon Station in Nowon, Seoul. For a healthy meal that doesn't sacrifice flavor, or a solo or takeout meal near Nowon Station, the beef plate salad at Prefers Nowon Station branch is a good fit.

Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch is an old-style Western cutlet restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building in the Millak 2-jigu commercial center in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. For a weekend lunch the writer ordered pork cutlet and jjukkumi bibimbap (spicy baby octopus rice bowl). The cutlet had a crisp coating, thick meat and a sauce that wasn't overpowering, and the baby octopus was tender in its spicy seasoning. With neatly presented side dishes and widely spaced tables, Yangchonri Donkaseu Millak Branch is worth recommending for a family meal out.

Apgujeong bakery: black raspberry jam with D & S loaves, Option Black

Apgujeong Saengsikppang Option Black is a bakery café specializing in fresh milk loaves (saengsikppang) on Apgujeong-ro 34-gil in Gangnam, Seoul.
