Weeknight tonkatsu with a kid in Dongtan: cheese katsu, Kkot Gatsu

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a tonkatsu (Japanese-style pork cutlet) restaurant on Wangbaesan 3-gil in Mokdong, Dongtan, Hwaseong. On a weekday evening, a mother and her child shared the cheese katsu set (₩21,000) with su-udon and the cold soba set with tenderloin katsu (₩17,000); Mom preferred the soft, juicy tenderloin katsu, while the child loved the stretchy cheese katsu. Kkot Gatsu is a family dinner spot where even diners who worry tonkatsu will be greasy can eat cleanly.

Dongtan jjamppong spot: weekend-morning hangover with a kid, Bultina

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch (불티나꼬막짬뽕 동탄남광장점) is a Chinese-Korean restaurant specializing in cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) at Dongtan South Plaza in Bansong-dong, Hwaseong. The writer went with a child on a weekend morning to cure a hangover. They ordered level 1 cockle jjamppong, kids' jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and a small tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and were pleased with the rich broth of shell-free cockle meat and the generous old-style tangsuyuk. Bultina is a good Dongtan jjamppong spot for a hangover fix and a meal with kids in one stop.
