It's fig season with this autumn-autumn weather haha, so after a girls' meetup in Gangnam we went looking for a pretty dessert café and ended up at this spot near Sinnonhyeon Station.

I got treated to some cheongmo (blue-collar-style casual) food by a friend who's getting married soon, and then we went for an after-party round at Something About Coffee, a Sinnonhyeon dessert café she loves :3

Where Something About Coffee is and how to visit

Something About Coffee is a Gangnam Station café known for great seasonal figs. It's on the 1st–3rd floors at 30 Gangnam-daero102-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and it's open daily from 11:00 to 22:30. Dine-in closes at 22:00, takeout at 22:30, restrooms are separated for men and women, and there's no parking.

This Gangnam dessert café lets you chat comfortably until 10pm. It's close to both Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam stations, making it a good pick for meetups or dates in the area.

The space is big and open, so even with lots of people around it still feels comfortable to hang out in. The café spans three floors and has a pretty large-scale feel. Order on the 2nd floor!

A must-visit dessert café near Sinnonhyeon!

This was my first visit, and the baked goods were displayed so prettily! There was a nice range of cookies, financiers, and scones.

What sells out on a weekend evening at Something About Coffee

We arrived past 7pm on a Sunday and only about half the desserts were left!!!!! Holy moly.

Something About Coffee apparently makes 8 types of cake, but only the yellow cheese cheesecake was left by the time we got there. It's the weekend and this place is famous, so it's clearly super popular 🤤 you can just imagine how good it must be!!! Instead, they had one of the trendy fruit sando (fruit sandwich) desserts, so we ordered that too!

For the recommended menu item at this Sinnonhyeon café, I tried the matcha cream cold brew 🍵 — clean cold brew topped with soft matcha cream. It's not a heavy, overwhelming cream style; it softens the coffee flavor in a nice way, so it paired well with the cake and financiers. Personally, since the desserts were sweet overall, I think ordering a slightly bitter drink was the right call :>

By the weekend evening I visited, 7 out of 8 cake types at this Sinnonhyeon café were basically sold out, which really built up my expectations! Yellow cheese snacks are super hot these days too, right???ㅋㅋㅋㅋ The yellow cheese cheesecake had exactly the dense texture you want from cheesecake, plus the salty, savory flavor of yellow cheese — a nice sweet-and-salty combo.

Fig season: the autumn dessert lineup

Every café near Sinnonhyeon has figs right now, it seems. A lineup you simply have to order. The fig sando had cream and a whole fig tucked between soft bread, with a subtle sweetness, and the fig cream financier had a chewy texture with the fruit's sweet flavor — super berry good~ If you love figs, just lie down right here~

A different cozy mood on each floor

Inside, chandeliers, pretty lighting, and antique furniture design stood out here and there.

We settled in on the 1st floor, and since it was a weekend evening people were starting to clear out, so we went all out taking photos of my soon-to-be-married friend ^v^ The café had a woodsy tone with cozy lighting, a different mood on each floor, and more dessert variety than I expected — it felt like picking from a buffet haha.
