Eating out is so expensive these days, T_T Even after one good pork belly meal, the bill makes you snap awake 😤 But this time, near Sanbon Station, I found a pork belly spot with proper meat quality and kind prices. It only just opened and it's already spreading by word of mouth! It's Geobugi Dongne.

It's easy to reach from Sanbon Station, and thanks to the tasty meat and generous spread, it's become a hot barbecue place in Sanbon lately.

A spacious, comfortable barbecue restaurant interior

The moment I walked in I was surprised by how much bigger the place was than I expected. Budget barbecue places often have tables packed close together, slippery floors, or a stuffy room full of meat smoke. But since this branch is newly opened, the whole place felt clean and comfortable.
The spacing between tables was generous, and there was none of that sticky barbecue-restaurant floor or stuffy feeling. Best of all, every seat is a soft sofa, so it's comfortable for a long meal ❤️ It looks fine for families with kids, and also for parents or older relatives who dislike uncomfortable seats.

The clean restroom is inside the restaurant too, haha
Geobugi Dongne menu and pork belly price

Geobugi Dongne sells various cuts, including pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl and gabrisal (pork chuck flap)! Lots of people seemed to order the set menus that let you try several cuts at once, but that day we skipped the other cuts and went all in on pork belly, haha. The price is ✅ ₩5,490 per 100g. Considering pork belly prices these days, that's really good value, right?
The first order starts at 500g, and add-on orders come in 200g units.

Why we never got tired of eating only pork belly
The pork belly quality was really good. Even the color of the meat looked great. The ratio of lean meat to fat was just right, and the surface was scored with tight knife cuts.

Grilled on a strong-heat grill, the outside turned golden and crispy while the inside stayed juicy. Crispy outside, moist inside, exactly right!!
With a price this low, I worried the meat might be thin or a bit lower in quality, but it was thicker than I expected and the juices were well preserved. Above all, there was no gamey smell at all and the savory flavor was rich, so my chopsticks kept going back.

We didn't mix cuts and ordered only pork belly, yet we never got tired of it. It was so good that we kept adding more without a thought for other cuts...
₩5,000 table charge: what's in the self-bar?

Geobugi Dongne charges a separate ₩5,000 per table. It may feel a bit unfamiliar at first for a barbecue place to charge a fee, but it's ₩5,000 per table, not per person. Once you see the self-bar for yourself, you immediately understand why the fee exists.

Besides basic wrap vegetables like lettuce and perilla leaves, there's a wide range of side dishes that go well with meat: angelica leaves, bracken, bean sprouts, corn salad, dried radish strips and more. You can freely take as much as you need, and the vegetables were fresh and clean overall.

I especially loved pork belly topped with chili pepper, grilled garlic... and bean sprouts 🩰❤️ You can take as much as you like without feeling awkward, so meat lovers should be quite satisfied.
₩4,000 cauldron rice for two and doenjang jjigae
And you absolutely have to order the cauldron rice (gamasot-bap).

✅ Cauldron rice for two, ₩4,000. It's not just the meat, the rice was really good too! The cauldron rice takes about 10 minutes after ordering, so I recommend ordering it together with the meat. When I opened the lid, the rice was glossy and every grain was plump and springy. The rice itself has a faint sweetness, so it tasted great even on its own, haha

A piece of well-grilled pork belly on freshly cooked cauldron rice with a little wasabi on top is pure heaven T_T The savory pork fat and the sharp wasabi go so well together that we kept eating it this way.
✅ Doenjang jjigae, ₩4,000. Eating pork belly without hot doenjang jjigae would feel a little empty, right? It was packed with vegetables and meat, so the broth was rich and hearty. There's a separate burner just for stew next to the table, so you can keep it bubbling throughout the meal.
Save room for dessert
Don't leave just because you've finished the meat and rice!

Near the entrance there's a soft-serve ice cream machine and a coffee machine. The soft serve is rich in milk flavor and smooth, haha

After a big pork belly meal your mouth can feel a bit greasy, but finishing with cold, sweet soft serve cleaned everything right up, haha. Even if you're full, I recommend saving room for one ice cream 🍦
Honest review

Honestly, I'll admit I was a little worried that the pork belly was so cheap that the quality might be poor or it might smell gamey!! But when I actually ate it, there was no gamey smell at all and the meat was juicy, so I was very satisfied for the price.
We ate only pork belly, adding more several times with no other cuts, and still never got tired of it right to the end. If you want to eat your fill of pork belly near Sanbon Station without worrying about the price, or you're looking for a spot for a family meal, gathering or company dinner, I recommend Geobugi Dongne Gunpo Sanbon Branch!
It's not just good value, it nails the flavor and quality of the pork belly too, so I'll probably come back next time I want pork belly 🦍❤️
