Gonjiam café on a rainy Chuseok: French country bread, La Cuesta
La Cuesta Gwangju is a large bakery café on Gyeongchung-daero in Gonjiam, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, about 10–15 minutes by car from Hwadam Botanic Garden and Gonjiam Resort. On a rainy Chuseok afternoon the writer came with family from a nearby home, found the famous mejusikppang (soybean-block loaf) already sold out, and ordered French country bread, an olive bagel and the signature La Cuesta latte instead. Come early rather than in the afternoon for the popular breads, though the roomy indoor floors at La Cuesta made a rainy family outing easy.
